hm... i was bored so i went to the yao ming official website... fully expecting the people there to be excited about the trade too. what's pretty crazy is that it seems like the average chinese fan is dead against this trade. a bunch of people going "dawson is very stupid for doing this trade." one guy writes "tough days ahead for JVG and Yao." they just LOVE francis over there. and the arguments are strung together so eloquently too... kind of funny.

I'm pretty certain that Rasheed is a free agent, isn't he?

They just reported on ESPNews that Francis had a talk with Wiesborn this morning(friday) and 'the way has been paved' for the T-mac deal and that everything is good. Good news.

Lets just hurry up and get it done.

Considering that so many fans over there with access to this BBS post their masturbatory "Yao will someday play for the Lakers or Knicks because their Chinese-American community is sooo much better than Houston's Chinese-American community" threads here on a regular basis, its better to tune those dreamers out.

T-Mac trade to Houston step closer

The trade of Tracy McGrady to the Houston Rockets moved a step closer early Friday morning to becoming reality after Magic general manager John Weisbrod spoke with Rockets guard Steve Francis.

Weisbrod and Francis - the Rockets star who will come in the trade for McGrady - spoke by phone after the NBA Draft concluded Thursday night.

Jeff Fried, Francis agent, said Friday morning that his client has dropped any objections to coming to Orlando.

"Steve was very impressed with the way John has a vision for the team,'' Fried said. "It was a necessary step. I think John really connected with him.''

Weisbrod stopped short of saying any deal was imminent. The proposed trade of McGrady includes Tyronn Lue, Juwan Howard and Reece Gaines in exchange for Francis Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato.

"I couldn't say we're closer to anything but this was a good first step,'' Weisbrod said. "I do like the determination, conviction I hear from Steve.''

Weisbrod also said he will continue talking to other teams interested in McGrady, and that he does not expect any conclusion to the McGrady situation this weekend.

"We could still go in another direction with this, but I do like what I heard tonight,'' Weisbrod said. "We meshed.''

They think that T-MAC will take more shots than SF3, and SF3 is a friend of Yao, and T-MAC will take a leader role in the team which simply drops Yao into the second. They do not know much NBA.

maybe because they haven't picked up their pivot foot.....so they could take plenty of "first steps" and never move

That actually sounds like an accurate prediction. Especially the more shots part. T-Mac has to pick up the slack for Francis and Mobley.

In Washington we have delightful memories of Juwan Howard. First Miami signed him away. We were horrified. Then, miraculously, we got him back. With his enormous salary and underwhelming production, it turned out to be like recovering your own live grenade. At least this time he's cheaper.

and by the way...Boardwalk and Park Place are the ingredients of most NBA championships in history. we had a little Boardwalk named Hakeem that was hell for opponents for quite some time. MJ was a Boardwalk. Shaq and Kobe were Boardwalk and Park Place. I'll take my chances with that every time.

As long as it is good for the team, we will support it. We only care about the team not a single player.

It won't bother me at all if T-Mac takes those reasonable shot rather than forced ones. I say, hey, keep a 40%+ FG, we will love you more, TM. And the most important part is Yao would be getting well along with him. We all know Yao is a nice guy and TM likes him, which is much better chemistry than that between KB and Shaq. ;)
