    If only we had a couple of "Get out of Jail Free" cards, one for Eddie and one for Calvin.

    Aside - then again Phoenix IS Phoenix! That Carmelangelo or whatever his name is about as real an NBA franchise owner as Lindsey Lohan is when it comes to b**bs.

    Going with the Monopoly thing:

    We will no longer have that feeling after every Francis turnover or bonehead decision. You know, the feeling when you keep picking the Chance card that tells you, "Go directly to Jail-Do not advance to the Finals-Do not collect a Larry O'Brien Trophy".

    Howard: LUXURY TAX b/c he clings to McGrady like expensive cologne. Without fail, just when the Trady "Boardwalk" McGrady tile comes into sight, we end up paying the piper for landing on the Howard square instead.

    Gaines: Free Parking b/c he adds zero value at zero opportunity cost however which way you look at him.

    Lue: Connecticut Ave. Cheap to buy, payout is small, and low rolls lands you on his square.

    Let's hope with this final round of negotiations, we've picked up that one chance card that "Advances us to Boardwalk"

    Not bad, except I am not sure why people are dissing Howard so much.. He's not a bad player, and his current contract is MUCH better than his old one. He makes less than MoT, and is better. (don't know how much that actually says).

    Yao = Park Place
    McGrady = Boardwalk

    Park Place + Boardwalk = Monopoly

    now we need a couple of hotels (role players) so we can rake in the loot

    anyone else who's played Monopoly, how rare is it for someone to land on Boardwalk, it never seems to happen for me...

    hi Jebus,

    If my memory serves me correctly, Juwan came out of the same system from Michigan as Webber and Jalen Rose. Of the three, I'd go on a limb and say that Jalen is probably the best talent. (Sac fans would probably lynch me for saying so.) Juwan Howard is good too, but only in select systems. When he bounced around from Washington to Denver, I believe, the critics got on him for his low shooting percentage and for taking low percentage shots. Juwan plays best in an open court system a.la New Jersey or perhaps the Mavericks. It will be interesting to see how he fits on the Rockets half court sets b/c I'm 99% sure that JVG will want more REBOUNDING out of him, at the expense of his point productivity.

    There just won't be enough FGA to go around to allow Juwan to get that average up to a respectable number.

    That is the fear.

    I totally agree, I just think that getting someone who's a lot like MoT, but more athletic, maybe a slightly better rebounder, and cheaper, isn't trash for this team. (more than just a TMac tax)

    I think some of his troubles in Washington and Denver came from having to be "the man"- or am I wrong about that? anyway, no need to worry about that here!

    Actually...

    That's a very good point Jebus. I totally forgot about that.

    (Side note - I honestly think Orlando was wise to pass on Okafur b/c as good as he is, Okafur, much like Howard, is NOT your prototypical franchise player.)

    Howard's numero uno goal will be to rebound day-in day-out on both the offensive and defensive glass. Hopefully, he'll be amenable to watching his scoring output go down to, say, less than 10 points a night. My one big reservation with Howard though is whether or not he has the mental toughness to be Yao's enforcer. Whenever I think of JVG's offensive sets back in NY, he always had Oakley. Although Oak didn't work out for us as a reserve, Oak is the prototypical PF that I think of to help out Yao. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if we moved more players, including those inherited from Orlando, before the summer lets out.

    (I hear Tyrone Hill is on the market)

    Juwan did take out Derek Anderson in the 2nd round of the Spurs series 2 or 3 years ago. Him giving a hard foul to Derek and spraining his shoulder was a big reason why Dallas almost won the series, and for the Lakers to steamroll the Spurs in the next round.

    The loss of the enforcer type may be one of the things that ends up hurting more than we'd expect about this deal.

    I would definitely be behind moving either Taylor or Howard for a player (or a package including a player) that is of the "enforcer" type. Cato was just too expensive and unsuited for the PF spot to be the real solution here.

    I personelly hope that they drop Juwan from the deal or at least move him right away for a better option at the 4. We need a shot blocking 4.

    Does anyone think there is anyway we can package Juwan Howard and Boki and TE for a R Wallace S&T? Is that too little?

    If we can get Rash-weed to play defense and rebound with an occasionaly great offensive game we would definately win our division.

    You know what sucks about defending Steve is that you are on the same side as some of these guys starting crazy threads like "All You Stever Haters Suck etc..." or "Steve is the Greatest and We Will Suck Without Him..." I like Steve, but man I realized we are getting Tracy McGrady. Thank god some people didn't get their way where we trade Steve for flavors of the day like Carlos Aroyo or Steve Blake among others. We are getting Howard also, who can score and rebound. All we need now are some good PGs and some front court muscle.

    Don't expect a team that just won a championship to trade a vital part like Rasheed.
