Orlando fans are saying that Charlotte is about to send their #4 pick and something else to the Clippers for the Clips #2 pick and it's pretty much a done deal. That pretty much kills the Clippers/Magic deal for McGrady I would think.

I am still puzzled about not waiting until July 1 to complete the deal. Can it be that the Rocks have asked for one or two players the Magic left exposed to the Bobcat draft, i.e. Reece Gaines and / or Zaza Pachulia? If we save these two from the Bobcats, plus McGrady and Gooden, we would have the backup holes filled -- or at least plugged for the moment -- by a young, tall crew.

    T-Mac -- SG (6-8)
    Gaines -- PG (6-6)
    PF -- Gooden (6-10)
Backup C -- Pachulia 6-11 (and only 20 years old)

Bobcats Near Trade for Clippers' Pick

    By CHRIS SHERIDAN
    AP Basketball Writer

The Charlotte Bobcats were close to finalizing a trade Monday with the Los Angeles Clippers for a swap of first-round draft choices, giving the NBA's newest franchise a chance to select Dwight Howard or Emeka Okafor with the No. 2 overall pick.

Charlotte would send the No. 4 overall pick, along with a second-round pick (No. 33 overall), to Los Angeles for the No. 2 choice and the rights to center Predrag Drobnjak, four league sources told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The Bobcats have made no secret of their desire to obtain one of the first two choices in the draft, believing Okafor or Howard could be one of the main building blocks for the league's 30th franchise.

The Clippers are interested in selecting Peoria prep star Shaun Livingston with the fourth overall pick, believing the Chicago Bulls will pass on him at No. 3 because they would not want to use their lottery pick on a point guard for a third consecutive year.

Howard, a power forward, and Livingston, a point guard, are two of the top high school players available in Thursday night's draft.

The Orlando Magic hold the first selection, and team officials say they remain undecided on whether to select Okafor or Howard. Orlando also is listening to trade offers, but if the Magic work out a trade it would most likely involve Tracy McGrady.

Charlotte will select 14 players from existing NBA rosters Tuesday night in the expansion draft, although the Bobcats expect to choose only two or three players who will end up on their opening night roster.

Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff acknowledged Monday that the team has had extensive discussions with Orlando and the Clippers, saying Los Angeles was more receptive to doing a deal.

"That is something we have spoken about. There are obstacles to surmount," he said. "I can't speak to their end, we're working on it and we've done everything we can do."

Drobnjak, a three-year NBA veteran, averaged 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds last season for the Clippers, who acquired him in a sign-and-trade deal with Seattle during training camp. He has one guaranteed season remaining on his contract for approximately $2.8 million.

** edit: I think there is something screwy with the link but that is the story from the AP

I changed up my roster on NBA Live. Even with Lue at the point the team is awesome. He got 8 assists on his first game. :D

That's the same thing the Magic fans were saying was being reported Castor, that could point to the Rockets/Magic deal basically being done with Indiana and now the Clippers appearing to drop out. There is a world of difference between the #2 and #4 picks, especially in this year's draft so I doubt the Magic would be happy to drop down from the #2 to #4 pick if they dealing with LA.

If TMAC's back gets injured, our season is over.

If Yao gets hit by a low-flying plane, our season may also be in jeopardy.

Sounds like no news yet, just some circular reporting. Everybody can go back to bed.

I'm getting tired of people worrying about T-Mac's back. I bet that Steve ends of being the guy with more injury list time. Point guards can't keep flying in for offensive rebounds and circus shots for long before they end up pasted. Steve isn't just fearless - he's reckless. And the worse he shoots, the more he has to drive.

Take this for what you will, but Francis verbally trashed Orlando and said he didn't want to be there. Orlando supposedly doesn't want him so Orlando is going to send him to the Bulls. Vescey is saying this so normally I would take it with a grain of salt but before I heard this Orlando fans were quoting Francis saying he didn't want to go to Orlando, the team was horrible and the fans were bad. Wow.

    LilFrancis,

I feel for ya. I always said we'd live to regret the day we traded Steve... But ironically, I also have been saying for months that if we DID trade him, the only guy I'd be willing to trade him for was TMac. Really.

Honestly, that was in part because I never thought there was a snowball's chance in hell... I'm still in shock, but I'm still unsure of what I want.

Where did he supposedly say this. In another thread it was attributed to 610, which I highly doubt, because it would be all over this place if it were. That coupled with the mention of PV gives it about as much credibility as the mentioning of Yao being hit by low flying aircraft.

edit:I am not questioning your credibility, just the cred of the actual reports.

I can't believe this!! The Clipps are giving up the 2nd pick AND the Drobber for the 4th pick? For those of you who don't know, Air Drobnjak may have been the best center in the state of California next year. (With Shaq traded, Divac retiring and Dampier opting out and signing elsewhere). P-Drob is sorely missed by all Seattle fans here, truly the best center to play for the Sonics since the McIlvaine era...
