Well, if this is true, thanks Francis. I'm glad Dotel didn't pull a Steve Francis and whine and b**** his way out of Oakland when his name came up in trade talks yesterday or that Beltran trade may have never went down tonight.

Still I don't see the Pacers doing this unless they get a guarantee
from Tracy that he will resign with them, or at least not opt out of his contract next year.

And why would he resign with them if they got rid of Artest, Bender, and Harrington?

This might be more believeable if it wasn't draft night tonight. I doubt he and Walsh flew to Orlando within the past 24 hrs, when Bird has a draft to take care of.

    Just to play devil's advocate:

I would think if they had a chance to get Tmac, they'd make that a priority over the 29th and 59th picks in the draft..

That said, I don't know why they'd need to go to Orlando to make an offer.

They would go to Orlando to personally plead their case with Tmac then immediately get the docs signed and submitted to the league office.

It wouldn't be that difficult to hop a flight on a private jet. The Pacers did try pretty hard--and failed--to get Luke Jackson.

Also.....if Bird really thinks his deal is better than ours, then why not fly down and talk to them? Maybe he thinks these guys will be star struck by the mere presence of the great Larry Bird.

    ALEXANDER CONCERNED ABOUT TRADE

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nba&id=1828979

    Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets owner Les Alexander's focus Thursday night was on a potential blockbuster trade with Orlando more than anything else, including the team's selection of Luis Flores with the 55th pick.

"This week has been very difficult," Alexander said. "We think the trade would be very beneficial to both our team and Orlando."

The Rockets and Magic are discussing a trade that would send Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato to Orlando for the Magic's Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, Reece Gaines and Tyronn Lue.

The trade was nearly completed earlier in the week, but the Magic balked at the last minute. Orlando officials said Houston was still in it, but postponed the deal to consider other offers.

Alexander could not predict whether Orlando would go ahead and make the trade.

"I think we're going to get it done," he said. "But who knows? It's not up to me. It's out of my control.

"They're terrific players we're trading. It would be great for both sides."

On Thursday night, the Rockets took Flores, a 6-foot-2 guard from Manhattan with their second-round selection. The Rockets had traded their first-round pick to Utah last year in the Glen Rice trade.

why did steve have to make this hard... i love how octavio is leaving the astros.

"It's tough for me to leave this club. What can I do? It's part of the job," Dotel said. "I feel happy because I did all I could do for Houston. I hope they appreciated what I did for them and I appreciated what they did for me. Thank you for everything."

that right there is being professional

I just wish we had more concrete info.We hear that Steve is going to meet with ORL ownership here, then hear that is not true there. We hear that Rockets are still in the drivers seat here, and then hear the deal iss off there. What the f*** is going on!? I know the Rockets organization is tight lipped about any transactions, but they need to come out and say something now before this thing gets even more out of hand.

well same i'm going to bed...but not because i can't take anymore of this. :) I don't think there will be anymore news this late lol. Man...first, I really hope we get Tmac. The trade will hopefully happen in one week..or whatever..and hopefully we will get Jameer Nelson. Tonight was quite interesting and exciting. I can't wait until tomorrow. But man...we better get Tmac! :/ lol I'd love to keep Stevie, Cat, and Cato though. They might be unhappy campers though..I don't think the Rockets are going to sign Luis Flores. I was happy to see Jeff Van Gundy being interviewed today! Brad Lidge our closer?

EDIT: well hm...now we got someone from the Mavs..#50 pick. ...who knows...maybe our 3rd string point guard. Goodbye Flores!
