Me too. I think having him as a backup is very important.

Keep him....and then trade him for someone else why he is actually of some value.

I (pretending to be an Orlando fan) asked Chad Ford at the beginning of his chat how the hell the trade could work if, as he said earlier, Mobley might be dealt to the Bulls and Cato might not be part of the original deal.

Needless to say, I didn't get a response...

this minor-league hockey hack GM for Orlando - reminds me of that first year fantasy sports player that takes forever to submit his draft picks, then takes a bad QB (like Rich Gannon) in the first round !

...anybody else see them blowing this pick - then trying to take it out on the Rockets in the trade (even though he has NO LEVERAGE)

Definitely keep Cato if we can!

He is an excellent back up center.

Let's get rid of Cato now, he will want a big new contract and we should NOT give that to him anyway.

If Cato wants a new contract when his contract is up we drop him then but not now.

Dudes I see CD making some moves and sticking it to Dubbaya....

Getting Chitowns pick and saying look man the deal has changed SF + MoT + 7th for Tmac and Drew Gooden + 2nd rounder +Reese Gaines

    OR

    SF + 7th +Tmac.

Either way we Keep Cato, though I prefer the 1st one that we we get MoT ond his uselessness off the books and we can have

    Yao/Cato
    Gooden/FA
    Boki/FA
    Tmac/JJ
    Reese/FA

So then we lose him without getting something back? Rather deal him now.

I think that the Rocs should play hard ball on Magic and simply ask them to bend over: take SF3+Cat for TMac+Lue. And give them a finger indicating that it will be Cat+Mo+filler for TMac if the Magic don't take it like a man.

Edit - Man, that was a sucky 1000th post.

Found this on the Sports Radio 610 web site...

According to the Washington Post, the much talked about Steve Francis/Tracy McGrady trade could be announced upon the conclusion of tonight's NBA draft.

I'm going to see if I can find anything on the Washington Post's site

As much as it would be nice to stick it to Wesibrod over this situation and play hardball a bit, I dont think I want to do that. He seems like the kind of guy that then wouldn't bend over, but a guy that would not trade just out of spite.

Right now we just need to go forward with what we were offering and get McGrady here. Our last laugh wont be screwing over Weisbrod but by winning championships with Yao and McGrady as the foundation.

No screwing around here. Just get McGrady here now and we can move on from there.

you ever think that instead of bending over and taking it up the ass the Orlando GM might just might just keep Tmac and hope he doesnt opt out if they do improve. Letting Tmac walk at the end of next season is better then getting insulted with a Cat+Mo+filler trade. Tmac leaves and probably so does grant hill leaving orlando with oodles of cap space.

I could see it happening. Especially if the pieces we are trading to Orlando are pieces that Orlando then wants to move on to other teams for other players. It was mentioned before Francis could be moved for Ray Allen. Or Mobley/Gooden moved for Caron Butler. Those moves can only happen if we make our trade tonight. Miami might want the Mobley/Gooden deal for Butler but Miami is also shopping Butler to other teams for draft picks and such. If Orlando wants Butler they have to do it TONIGHT.

Exactly. No need to dick around and screw up any chance of getting Tmac. If we do we could end up with a disgruntled Cat and SF.

I agree. He would rather keep him for now than to trade him for junk.

The deal has been set, lets get it done. Besides, I think we get a little bit of a steal by aquiring Gaines in the deal, if he is indeed included.
