McGrady To Houston Thread (Update: Francis will visit Orlando)

If the draft choice is due to trading Mobely, what's the difference? He is in the original proposed McGrady trade? It is no different including Cuttino or including a draft choice obtained for Mobely.

1st McDyess is just an example of what patience can get us if we don't use the trade exception in the T-Mac trade.

2nd You don't have to use the entire trade exception on McDyess you could break it up on more than one person.

Here we morons were, sitting around, imagining that the Rockets might package Mobley with Francis and Cato to Orlando, and that Mobley might then be traded to a third team for a pick, when in fact, as Chad Ford informs us, the Rockets might instead trade Mobley to a third team for a pick, which would then be packaged with Francis and Cato to Orlando.

If, however, Orlando drafts Okafor or Howard (and my sources say they will draft one or the other) and Houston trades Mobley for a lotto pick so the Magic can draft someone worse than Mobley, then the trade will definitely go down. there's so much wisdom in this post, that i truly think there is nothing i could possibly add. i think clutch might have to consider that we've just hit our peak...it's all downhill from here. should we shut the boards down? perhaps.

 

I know Chad Ford makes stuff up but I can believe we looked into acquiring the #3.

But if we moved the #3 with Steve and Cato for T-Mac and Howard? Too much to give up, expecially since, to get the #3, Cat and Boki would probably have to be involved, with us getting back, say, Quitten's expiring contract.

We do need contingency plans, JUST IN CASE.

Chad Ford: (1:12 PM ET ) This is the other part of the puzzle for Orlando. What happens to McGrady. If you take John Weisbrod at his word . . . nothing for now. I still think the Rockets are the heavy favorites, but the word now is that they may wait until July 15 so that Kelvin Cato doesn't have to be part of the deal. Right now Cato's involved because Francis is a base-year player. They need the extra salaries to make things work.

Could pull it off with out losing Cato. I'm not sure many here could wait until the 15th without their heads exploding.

Do we want to keep Cato or clear out his salary? I can't tell which side wants to keep him out of the deal.
