The funniest thing is that everybody is touting Weisbrod as a Hockey GM... what hockey team you might ask?

    The Orlando Solar Bears.

    Yea... that's right... minor league.

Does anybody hear know the name of the Aeros GM? Now, can you imagine him having to deal with the fate of a player like Yao, and keep in mind he's been on the job for less than a year...

    now THAT is scary.

I was wondering what Van Gundy has been doing amdist all this craziness, and a funny visual popped into my head.

For some reason I'm imagining him bunkered in his office, 24 hours a day, red-eyed, watching old videos of every Orlando Magic game for the past 4 years. (You know, like he did last year with the Rockets).

I'm sure CD was like, "Les, it was amazing! I barely had time to get the condom unrolled and he was like, 'Sure, I'll do a deal for Francis and CAT'." Stupid hockey GM!"

    Les: "Minor league hockey GM"

George Bush: "Don't mess with Texas. The End"

    And they all laughed together.

    DING DING DING !!!

    We have a winner.

Think about it....Orlando was saying they wanted it done BEFORE the draft so they could set their team.

Guess what? It is done...they just choose to announce it after July 1st.

CD knows what he is doing.....this is a done deal....

    McGrady is coming....bank it.

Tell him we will throw in a box of hockey pucks, that should seal the deal.

I agree. No one else is really talking about T-Mac except for Weisbrod, this guy is causing havoc for a bunch of teams and players.

Teams are going to start thinking twice before they deal with this guy in the future.

    1. The leak that caused all of this trouble was from his organization (purposely or not, its hard to trust the guy now)

    2. He has tried to put the blame on everyone else, but himself.

    3. Lied about an imminent deal, when it is so clear that a deal was close enough for CD to tell Steve.

    4. He's trying to get better offers for T-Mac by saying there are a bunch of teams involved, how T-Mac might still stay. Except that the Suns have called their bluff, and countless reports are still saying that T-Mac ONLY wants Houston.

This guy has to know that its just not him in these deal, that he also has to be considerate to other organizations. If not, whatever rep he has, will be tarnished.

Weisbrod is showing himself as the new kid on the block among NBA GMs. First thing he should have done was seal the deal and immediately get on the phone with Francis. I'm positive that never happened, and he didn't attempt to sell Orlando to him right off the bat.

NBA = brat stars that require endless coddling.
    NHL = men.

If Weisbrod was smart, he'd be trying to convince Washington right now to take Steve for Kwame and Arenas. Maybe try to shoehorn Jarvis Hayes into the deal while he's at it.

Minnesota traded for Sam Cassell and/or Sprewell prior to the draft a year ago. So trades can be legally made.

As for the BYC, someone in the media (can't remember who) finally said that the BYC on Steve's contract is overblown, given the size of the overall trade, which could negate the BYC factor.

The trade exception could come into play, if needed; and we would only have to use a small part of it anyway (no more than 2 million, MAYBE).

I think the trade can be done, no problem. The complication is that there will likely be a third or fourth team involved.

Ford now says Rocks trying to go through Chicago to get to T-Mac, shipping Cat for #3 or #7 which would then be moved to the Magic.

What is the ClutchCity record for posts in one thread?

(though I'm sure this one will be #1 by the time T-mac holds the red jersey with the number 1 on it up to his chest)

(Is it T-Mac or T-mac, I wouldn't want to piss Tracy off)

    By Chad Ford
    ESPN Insider

The warning shots have been fired, but the full cannon blasts might be coming today.

Two big trades went down Wednesday night, dramatically altering the face of the 2004 NBA draft (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). However, numerous NBA sources claim Wednesday was only the beginning. Almost every pick in the first round is up for grabs right now.

"I've never seen the trade-talk activity so hot," one GM said. "I think there is going to be a record number of trades (Thursday) night."

What has happened and what will happen? Here's Insider's take and our updated mock draft -- at least as they stand some eight hours before the first pick.

The Bulls acquired the Suns' No. 7 pick Wednesday, giving them two picks in the top 10. The team was talking to numerous teams Wednesday night in an effort to deal at least one of those picks for a veteran or two.

Who's interested? The Pacers are talking about sending Al Harrington to the Bulls for the No. 7 pick. With it, the Pacers would select Luke Jackson.

The Celtics and Sonics were talking to the Bulls about the No. 3 pick. There's talk the Bulls could swap Tyson Chandler, Jerome Williams and the No. 3 to Seattle for Ray Allen and the No. 12.

The Heat and Rockets aren't out of the hunt, either. Miami is offering the No. 19, Caron Butler and Eddie Jones for Chandler, Williams, Pippen and the No. 3. The Rockets have talked to the Bulls about a swap of either No. 3 or No. 7 for Cuttino Mobley. This could be part of a three-way deal with the Magic for Tracy McGrady (with the pick going to Orlando), or it could just be the Rockets moving up in the draft and gaining assets to sweeten the pot for the Magic.

The Mavericks moved into the lottery by swapping Antawn Jamison for the Wizards' No. 5 pick, Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Laettner. Washington badly wanted out of the first round, preferring to get an experienced player in return. While Jamison is awfully expensive for what he produces, the deal is a good one for the Wizards. They dumped two bad contracts and picked up a guy capable of scoring 25 points per game.

Dallas' move into the top five has created enormous speculation that the team plans to move the pick to the Lakers or another team as they try to collect assets to trade for Shaquille O'Neal. However, with Mark Cuban claiming he won't trade Dirk Nowitzki, I think the debate is pointless. The Lakers won't trade Shaq to the Mavs unless Nowitzki is included.

So, who will the Mavericks take at No. 5? My hunch says it's Pavel Podkolzine. I was with Donnie Nelson in Italy when Pavel played at the Reebok Eurocamp. He impressed everyone there, but no one more than Nelson. The Mavs need someone big and tough. If they can't get Shaq, they might make a run at Erick Dampier (who just announced he'll opt out of his contract) in free agency. With all the assets the Mavs have, surely they can work out a sign-and-trade with the Warriors that makes sense. If not, Dampier still may be lured by the mid-level exception. Podkolzine is the perfect young player to put in his place.

What the hell is this? Now we are going after high draft picks to give up more crap for McGrady? Is he really worth it? That's insane!

    Gator,

I tried the trade over at realgm and it works now.

    Steve, Cat, Cato

    for

    T-Mac
    Juwan Howard
    Andrew DeClerk
    Tyron Lue
    Reed Gains

and it came back Trade Excepted plus it mentioned that there were BYC players involved. It also figuered in the trade exception as being used in this case.

Oviously if Houston want's to keep its trade exception then patience is required. Personally I want the trade to happen now because of my impatience but if CD waits until Steve's BYC status changes then the trade exception could be used to fill holes in our roster.

It would sure be nice to land someone like Fortson or McDyess with our trade exception but it does require a little patience.

mcdyess is a waste of money if he isnt here for the vet minimum or a little more... the last what 3 years hes played i believe 30 games. He is not the same player so wasting all your money on him would not be smart.

I wish doc rocket could pop on and calm us all down

Wow! A 46 page thread! This has to be some kind of record. Well cheer up folks, it'll be over eventually. It could be worse you know. You could be up here in Dallas where it's been nothing but Mavs-Lakers-Shaq Trade Talk 25 hours a day!
