most likely Notwitski and a resigned near max Nash. And maybe josh howard and the #5 pick if needed. Thats pretty steep for somebody with 2 years max left on him.

good thing is we still have a big advantage on getting tmac. Tmac wants to play in houston and is willing to sign with us only according to some article.

Also does tmac really want to play with AMare? I can see amare getting mad if he dont get the ball (didnt his mom tell the media that stephon didnt pass him the ball or somethin?). Also phoneix doesent have a well established coach like JVG. Phoeniex also dosent know what defense is. Maybe tmac will take that into consideration. But the suns can gamble on tmac. Im suprised they are offering marion, #7, and JJ for him. But that is just rumors. However, i can be bias in my thinking b/c being a rocket fan.

Awesome news about the Suns trading the pick!

I'm starting to believe(or want to believe:) )that Orlando's motivation for slowing down the trade before finalizing is:

    1. To see if they can convince Steve to accept Orlando,if that fails then

    2. See what they could get for him from someone else,if that fails then

    3. See if they can convince TMac to drop his opt out with another team that the Magic would like to deal with.

With Phoenix's chances apparently diminished and Weisbrod's use of "Chad Ford" type of spin work today("we love Steve and he loves us"), this may all just be laying the groundwork for the inevitable to happen....TMac to Houston. And CD probably agreed to take the fall making Houston the bad guy in all this. Who cares as long as we get TMac, right?

Looks like Pheonix is out of the race for T-Mac

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2004/columns/story?id=1827142

The Phoenix Suns have traded away the No. 7 pick in Thursday's draft to the Chicago Bulls, ESPN.com Insider has learned. In the process, the Suns may be out of the running for Tracy McGrady.

The trade, which won't be announced until Thursday, will give the Suns one of the Bulls' second-round picks (No. 31), a future first-rounder and an undisclosed sum of cash in return for the pick.

The move is no surprise on one front -- the Bulls have been looking for a second lottery pick. They have had an infatuation with Oregon's Luke Jackson for some time and sources believe Chicago likely will select Jackson with the No. 7 pick.

For the Suns, the move is more surprising. Earlier on Wednesday, the Suns were dangling the No. 7 pick, along with Shawn Marion, to the Magic in an effort to land McGrady.

However, after the Magic announced that they wouldn't be making a T-Mac trade until after the draft, the Suns grew impatient and agreed to the swap with the Bulls.

While Suns sources wouldn't characterize the talks with the Magic as "dead," they claim that they are no longer in active discussions with the Magic for McGrady.

Why would the Suns give up a high lottery pick for only a future first-rounder? The Suns didn't feel that any player left at No. 7 would help their team immediately. They also wanted the extra cap space. By getting the No. 7 pick off their books, the Suns are suddenly looking at $16.3 million in cap space this summer to make a run at free agents.

The Bulls also included minimum protections on their future first. The pick is protected in the top three in 2005 and as the top pick in 2006.

LOL Deuce, I'm so glad I got in near the beginning of this and have been able to read every single post of this thread. Not that I remember every bit of info. My wife just rolls her eyes when she walks by and sees me on here again!

Roll call for all others who have read every post on this thread. Clutch can you put some kind of designation by our names or something when this is all over? It ought to be like a badge of honor or something. :D

Read 'em all..but I've been with it from the start

For me, the off season intrique is as much fun as the season. Same for football. I also may be the only person to watch the entire NFL draft.
