McGrady To Houston Thread (Update: Francis will visit Orlando)

DA says on ESPN News that deals are still coming in from other teams, but nothing has changed as of now.

 

yawn... this is really the deadest its been around here in 3 days. This is the ideal time to take a nap, for those of you who have been following this story around the clock.

Of course, after the deadest period, normally comes the biggest news... stay tuned.

McGrady deal will get done

Question: What seems to be the holdup on signing Tracy McGrady now that the guys involved in the trade have cleared the expansion draft? Is it possible that this deal can be rescinded and do you think it will?

Answer: The holdup is that the Orlando Magic are getting cold feet after being told that Steve Francis wasn't hot about playing in Orlando. I still think it'll get done because McGrady is the one with the leverage. No team is going to trade for him unless he promises to sign an extension.
That's why I think it'll still get done, but the Magic are listening to other offers.

Orlando GM John Weisbrod seems to have mishandled this deal from the start. First, he announces he'll trade McGrady unless he signs an extension. That should have business should have been conducted behind closed doors. Maybe Weisbrod should have gotten some better players, then tried to convince McGrady to stay.

Instead, he backed himself into a corner. He finishes a deal with the Rockets, then immediately gets buyer's remorse. Meanwhile, the Rockets wait.

 

For the first time, I totally agree with this man.

I dont like the sound of that. I still resent the fact that Orlando is soliciting offers for McGrady when the Rockets already have an agreement on the table with Orlando.

Has anyone here ever met anybody who was actually proud to be from Orlando?

 

Can anyone help me with this, I keep hearing from people on TV and here that the deal maybe done by Thursday. What I dont understand is how it could happen because of steves BYC, I hear some people say that the deal cant go down until the 1st because of the BYC and others say Thursday after the draft....WHAT GIVES???? I know the magic are not under the CAP so that would be the only way we could get it done with the BYC. So who is right and who is wrong????

I've been wondering about this myself. The realgm trade checker approves Francis/Mobley/Cato for McGrady/Howard/(DeClerq or Lue/Gaines or DeClerq/Gaines) while counting Francis as a full BYC player.

On the surface, I don't see Francis' BYC status as a problem with trading him to Orlando. But it could pose a problem once a 3rd team is involved.

 

So.. the deal will be SIGNED after the draft Thursday.

But it won't be executed until after the 1st of July due to BYC?

Is that right?
