McGrady To Houston Thread (Update: Francis will visit Orlando)

I'm sick of the Francis-hating.

 

The Orlando guy admitted that he would NEVER do that deal if he were the GM. Sounds like his interview today was based more on how he felt rather than fact.

Honestly, I heard him earlier today and he was much more animated than on Sportscenter - almost like at 5pm he was resigned to a deal he hated. No surprise there.

 

Keep it up and we'll trade you to Charlotte for a player to be named later and some gum.

 

I dont hate Francis. He was a tough player and fun to watch. But if he is going to act like a little whiner about the trade, I feel I can mock at will.

 

He still is/will be.

 

I don't want him in the West -- remember those first few games against Vancouver!

So far Francis hasn't whined at all about the trade. If you are referring to the 'doesn't want to play in Orlando' stuff that wasn't whining. It was handeled very professionally. Francis has only been positive about Houston and his time here. He's said that he understands it's a business. I wouldn't even call what McGrady has done whining about playing in Orlando, though he's said he wants to be traded.

 

Yeah but we're getting a guy who basically gets to choose where he wants to go as well. Don't get me wrong I like the trade, I think we're giving up a bit much, but Francis did some pretty good things for the Rockets and everybody is failing to see that.

 

610 sports update by Dave Daliti: Sources say the trade is just about a certainty no matter what happens tonight or what happens with Steve Francis but sources also say Steve Francis is changing his stance toward going to Orlando.

 

We should trade Francis back to Vancouver just for the hell of it.

 

Thanks for the update. I really wish we got a feel for when the deal would "officially" go down. I am hoping it is early tonight after the Expansion draft. Hopefully before I go to bed! LOL

610 Sports David Daliti: Orlando Magic are not balking at this trade. The Rockets expect this trade to come fully to fruition.

 

Well, he can always deal Steve to Charlotte for the #2, or to the Bulls, or to Boston, or to wherever.

Steve gets a bad rap. T-Mac he ain't, but still, he'll be an asset, either on the team or as trade bait for the Magic. Put him on a team without a dominant center and he's Allen Iverson without the arrest sheet.

 

For what it's worth, Rick Bonnel (a reports for the Charlotte Observer) just stated on NBATV that Bernie Bickerstaff has no intention of throwing a wrench into the Orlando/Houston trade by taking Reece Gaines.

On the ESPN report, they also mentioned that Yao approves of the deal and that he's looking forward to playing with McGrady.
