Patience. I'd guess that none will be available until the trade is 'official', not just 100% agreed to, as in July 1 or 15 or whatever the real and true BYC date is.

No, you are not alone but that's just not a very popular position around here right now. Orlando has basically cleared the decks for their rebuilding. My take is that while T-Mac is a serious upgrade at the 2, Mobley wasn't the reason the Rockets weren't contenders - it was problems at the 1 & 4. So they trade their starting 1,2 & 4 and get a superstar 2 along with bench or trade fodder in return. Lue is a great backup PG but that's not what this team really needs - they need a true PG that can start in the West. Howard is simply not the answer at the 4 (too small, poor defense, etc.) and Gaines is just awful (a no.1 pick who could not get any playing time on a last place team). So after this trade, they still need a 1 & 4. They have probably moved up into the 48 to 52 win range with this trade but only time will tell.

Too soon to tell about our depth. Will Les open up the checkbook knowing he has T-Mac to guarantee a full house?

I hate losing Cat. But I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that another move is on the way.

We have both the mid level exception AND the trade exemption for the rest of the summer. This won't be the last of our moves.

On the Dan Patrick show on espnradio:

Brian Schmitz, the Orlando Sentinel beatwriter says Magic GM Weisbrod is taking us all for a ride because SF is not the type of player that the Magic want and the trade won't happen unless there is a "move Steve on" deal in place after the initial trade.

He also reports Reece Gaines is holding up who the number one pick in the draft is going to be ie - the Bobcats will take him in the expansion draft to nix the McGrady deal unless the Magic let them select who they want with the #2 overall pick.

    Food for thought...

Huh - Hold up on a non-protected player on a non-existant trade? I thought Ford was bad...

The Bobcats picking Gaines in the Edraft will NOT nix this deal.

I can guarantee that. NO WAY that a deal this significant is predicated on Reece Gaines. Les Alexander would NEVER allow that to happen.

As for Francis, I don't see that being a hold up in terms of keeping OUR deal from moving forward. They will have plenty of options to deal him especially considering the fact that the deal can't take place "officially" until next week with his BYC status.

Agreed. All these points were brought up by Jonathan Feigen of the Chronicle (who was also included in the interview). It sounded more like desperate attempts by the Orlando writer to spin conspiracy theories. He was very anti-"the trade".

What hour of this show was the interview? It is delayed here in Houston, so it's just now starting.

they just said on the Dan Patrick show that Bickerstaff is saying he has no interest in Reese Gaines at all, so there is nothing to prevent the trade from going down as expected.

Sweet .... that paves the way for us to land the prized young player that not even an expansion team wants, even if acting like he's wanted could mean moving up a spot in the draft.

What are we going to do with Gaines though?

    Will he run the point?

And if he does, what happens if we get D.Fish or Barry?

    Will he spell JJ/Tmac?

And if so, what happens to Boki?

On page 27 I don't want to have to go back so.....

Would someone post a review of the BYC rules and how it effects this trade please. I want to temper my excitment in case I have to wait until July 1st for the official trade announcement.

Two, I assume physicals will be required. What is the real story with T-Macs back?

Three, What's the likely costs of T-Mac's extension. When Yao finishes his rookie contract, how will we be looking for cap space.
(I assume we go way over, signing Yao to a max contract under his Bird rights)

Four, would Derek Fisher sign for the MLE?

Five, who do we have left that someone might want to trade for so we can use our trade exception. We're going to need a back up 5 even if we settle for Mo-T and Howard at the 4.

    Anybody?
