McGrady To Houston Thread (Update: Francis will visit Orlando)

The Rockets and the Magic are currently in talks but so far there isn't a deal done yet. The two teams are still working on the players who could be involved but there is competition with other teams who want the services of Macgrady. The deal is not far enough along where the Rockets have discussed a contract extension with the Magic guard, and sports radio 610 will keep you updated on the latest news.

Well, I highly doubt Steve will ever play for Orlando, so a 3rd team might make things a whole lot easier. Someone mentioned Chicago as a third team.

 

And I thought SOFs were just a myth.

I liked Steve too but I like the Rockets more.

That's a good call on the age difference; I completely forgot about that and was thinking last year that Francis will be 28 next season!

According to my 'sources' (which are mainly a couple of Asian friends), TMac is one of the BIGGEST stars in China. He's up there as one of the most recognizable sport figures with Yao (might even be MOREso in some parts), Iverson, but nowhere near Jordan -- of course Yao is also nowhere near Jordan levels.

And I hope McGrady scores 50 and Yao scores 35 and pulls down 15 boards and blocks 7 shots. Because I'm a Rockets fan first.

 

Somebody mentioned this earlier, but I believe it is worth repeating. Our depth is going to be RAZOR THIN next year. McGrady, while he hasn't missed that many games over the course of his career, has had problems with his back and knee. Mo Taylor will be one of our biggest returning scorers and he missed an entire year due to an injury. Yao hasn't missed a significant amount of time, but I don't think any of us are ready to lift the 'fragile' tag off him just yet. We have no point guard. We have no backup center. Unless this is the busiest off season in the history of the Houston Rockets, and it may well be, then this team is far from championship contender status unless these holes are plugged.

 

It's a lot more fun to be busy at work, and to catch up on this story every couple of hours.

That's taking it WAY too far!! I love McGrady as much as the next guy, but he certainly will not replace Dream as the best player to wear a Rockets uniform. We can't dismiss Hakeem and his contributions that easily.
