McGrady To Houston Thread (Update: Francis will visit Orlando)

The guy acts like he's in total control then issues this quote which makes it sound as though it's not up to him when this gets done. And if he wants picks or money from the Rockets, why doesn't he just tell them so. Issue an ultimatum to the Rockets if you have the conviction to do so, or else shut up and do the deal already. What a wimp!

 

Any way we can screw with Weisbrod, get T-Mac, and dump Francis?

 

I will beleive it when I see it. NBC source could be the same group predicting the deal done for the last 2 weeks. Unless their source is the Orlando GM, its a wait and see.

 

Now he's calling Francis a lyer? Does this guy just think that everyone is lying and he has nothing to do with it?

If this guy is telling the truth, this is what happened in the last week:

1. CD tells Francis he's being shipped out, when supposedly, no deal was ever close.

2. Deal was suppose to be after Exp. Draft, then after Draft, and then after weekend. To "we can wait til Aug."

3. Francis talks with Wisebrat. Claims that the Rox are at fault of the whole fiasco. Said nothing was closer.

4. 4 days of crap coming out of Wisebrod's mouth: "no deal was imminent, "considering ALL options." I don't know how many times he's said this.

5. Grant Hill lies about the deal being close for his own benefit. Says it should happen anyday.

6. Francis goes to Orlando on his own w/o Wisebrod knowing. Says "it won't make a difference, but I'll talk to him." Still no deal is close.

If the deal doesn't go down by Wednesday, I say "Screw You Wiseass." Tell T-Mac that if he wants to play in Houston, he needs to make it public. I'm tired of listening to Wisebrod, the guy is a moron. Tell T-Mac that we're tired of waiting and that GM is going to screw you over.

 

Call me crazy but I'm kind of disapointed that we're not getting Declerq in the final deal. We coulda used the backup center.

Maybe management already has plans to pursue some people, making Gaines and Declerq unneeded.

Oh, and Lue is by far the ugliest player in the NBA. Dude looks like a lady.

 

I still think the comment about wanting to watch Stevie 'stick it' to the Rockets is most telling.

How in the hell could he make a statement like that unless this guy was already essentially traded from his team? Even after a trade, it's still incredibly unprofessional.

Can somebody please photoshop Francis visiting Orlando today? You know, pics at Disneyworld with Mickey, Minnie, Weis...I mean Goofy, Pluto,etc.

 

So Wednesday it is? That does not surprise me. It gives Weisbrod all of today to talk up Francis to the local media. Show him off get some quotes etc. Then the stories can be written in the morning fishwrap. It will be 'feel good' for everyone and then they announce the trade on Wednesday afternoon.

Of course after that Houston fans will caravan to Orlando to beat the crap out of Weisbrod.

I knew this was going to come up eventually. It is a good selling point to Francis. Hey Francis, we wanted you in Houston and really the only player in the NBA we were going to trade you for was a Top 5 NBA player. For Francis' ego, I am sure that feels good.

Just imagine if Francis had been delt for Jalen Rose, Donyell Marhsall and a pick?

It seems like the two main sources coming out right now are Fried and Weisbrod.

Weisbrod wants to get as much as he can from the Rockets, so of course he's keeping a pokerface.

Fried on the other hand is talking about what Weisbrod said to Francis:

"Weisbrod apparently sold Francis on the team's draft acquisitions, playoff chances and appreciation of his talents, according to Jeff Fried, Francis' agent."

All the reports are coming via the Wash Post article. They have a "source with knowledge of the deal"

Here's how i think the negotiations are going right now:

Weisbrod: Hey CD! My main man! So, I was thinking, since we're talking about freaking T-MAC here... I really need you to sweeten up the deal. We need a future first rounder, and a couple million to make this deal happen.

Dawson: **** you Weisbrod, the deal goes down by wednesday or else you lose Cato! Call back when your ready to sign!

I cant understand all this fuss that is being made! Francis cant be traded till July 1st. if the Rockets are going to get full value for him and because of the moratorium it cant become official till July 14th/15th.

The current deal on the table is factoring in his BYC status. If they don't make the trade before July 1st, then his full value kicks in... That means they have to rework the trade.
