I'm not going to fall for this...the trade isn't done unless it comes from Weisbrod's lips.

    :D

I know. Plus, MSNBC is now running it. ESPN will probably have it shortly. The Post wouldn't run this unless they were confident it was true. We'll see, but pretty good indication it is done.

Of course, Francis visiting will have NO effect on the trade according to Wisebrod.

You already felt for it so many times. HOW CAN YOU TRUST THE THINGS COME OUT OF WEISBROD'S LIPS?

It can't be official because I just saw a newsclip of Weisbrod saying that he was hoping to bring this to an end soon and was hoping to talk again to Francis but didn't know anything about Francis going to Orlando on Tuesday but he woudl be glad to meet him but he might not because he has several phone appointments to keep with GM's who are very much in the running for TMac assuming of course they decide to trade TMac because they might keep him after all but if they do decide to trade him they are in no rush at all since this is a decision that needs to result in exactly what the team needs so they will hurry up and trade him before the draft unless they're not really in a hurry to trade him assuming of course they decide to trade him in which case they'd like to get it over with because they demand to know if TMac intends to opt out or not so that they can get on with the new direction of the team and so they intend to hurry up and wait.

That was his answer to the first question. My head was pounding and swirling after that so I don't know how the rest of the interview went. Did I leave anything out?

DeAfleck...you're right...I'm not going to believe this until Tmac lands in Houston and CD&Les hold a press conference introducing Tmac as Houston's new 2 guard.

    That was from earlier today.

That guy is so full of crap. If you ever need a good source of manure for your garden, I suggest you just squeeze his head.

The article did not mention Gaines in the deal? So, I guess all the whining and holding out that Orlando's GM did for the past several days paid off ... small but he was able to retain one of the players initially in the trade talks.

Guess that Harvard education is useful ...

It makes sense to keep Gaines when they have francis. That is an ideal back court mate for Steve. A tall combo guard that has passing skill and can shoot the deep ball.

Lue is ALOT better to get in the deal than Gaines because the Rockets need someone they know can play some quality 1 minutes over a so far very dissappointing prospect. This is a great deal for the Rockets.

I just saw another interview with Weisbrod where he was asked about the Washington Post story. He said he's never heard of the Washington Post and is not sure if it really exists, but that woud be a great name for a newspaper in Washington if it does exist and if he had heard of it.

When pressed on the issue of the report he said that maybe they were talking about another Steve Francis and another Tracy McGrady and that maybe THAT Steve was going to another Orlando because he didn't know of this Steve going to his Orlando and that he just remembered that he had to go out of town for the next two days and wouldn't be able to stay and meet Francis if he does go to Orlando, which he knew nothing about, of course.

    Francis scheduled to meet Weisbrod

    BY JOHN DENTON
    FLORIDA TODAY

ORLANDO -- Steve Francis will meet with the Orlando Magic today in a session that could signal that the much-talked-about seven-player blockbuster trade between the Magic and Houston Rockets is imminent.

Francis originally told reporters in Houston that he would be in Orlando on Monday, but the trip to visit with Magic general manager John Weisbrod and possibly team owner Rich DeVos got bumped to today.

Weisbrod confirmed that the two sides were not meeting Monday, but he squirmed, mockingly contorted his face and didn't directly answer when asked if the All-Star guard was due into town today.

But Francis' agent, Jeff Fried, indicated that the session would finally take place today at the Magic's headquarters.

"We're in the process of making arrangements for Steve to fly (today)," Fried said. "I know he's meeting with John (Weisbrod). If John decides to bring in the ownership group, that's John's decision."

The topic of a meeting in Orlando was discussed last Thursday night when Weisbrod and Francis talked on the phone about the potential trade. Francis was initially upset that he would be leaving Houston for a rebuilding Magic team, but Fried said that Weisbrod has since changed his mind and that Francis would welcome a trade.

In the trade, the Magic would get Cuttino Mobley, Kelvin Cato and Francis, while the Rockets would receive Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines.

Today's meeting could be the only thing holding up the trade that has been discussed for two weeks. But Weisbrod stressed that the idea was Francis' and that it will likely have little effect on the trade he decides to execute.

"If we do (meet), it will be something that he's interested in doing," Weisbrod said. "I didn't ask him to come to town and that's probably why he's a little further down that road and telling people that. But if he wants to come to town, we're certainly happy to spend the time."

Curiously, Weisbrod continued to insist he's in no hurry to make a trade and hinted that he's still fishing for better offers. He said four teams are still in the hunt for McGrady, down from the seven he suggested on Friday that were still bidding for the services of the two-time scoring champion. Those teams are believed to be Houston, Indiana, Phoenix and Miami.

Weisbrod said he was not concerned with the off-court problems that Francis had in Houston this past season. He openly feuded with new coach Jeff Van Gundy and was suspended for a game after he skipped a flight when the Super Bowl was being playing Houston. Also, Francis led the league in technical fouls and was fined for hitting Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire in the neck with a blatant elbow.

Weisbrod said getting Francis to Orlando could help him the same way that Rasheed Wallace improved once he was traded from Portland to Atlanta and ultimately Detroit. Known as a malcontent with the Trail Blazers -- Weisbrod referred to him as "the poster child for talent dysfunction" -- Wallace helped the Pistons win the NBA championship.

"If your organization is strong enough, the structure is something they will want to be a part of," Weisbrod said. "Now you look at Rasheed Wallace, he's a leader and a champion and all of the good things that people thought about his talent.

"So that's one example of being in one environment and in another environment and it's testimony as to why you want to make the environment what we've been talking about here."

So is he sideslapping the Rockets again? The Rockets are not stable and strong enough to deal with a hooligan like Francis and a stable environment that Weisbrod can provide will straighten that wild dhild out?
