This thread is growing faster than I can read it...anyone else got that feeling? Back on topic...so thankful that T-Mac is leaving, this drama needed to begin to come to an end. I said "begin to come to and end" because this is probably only the beginning of the drama that we may see over the next few weeks, but so thankful it's getting there... The only thing that could kill my enthusiasm at this point is if, in a week, Tracy and Rick come to some understanding and he starts playing 12 minutes...would be devastating. Laugh now...you never know...hope not.
Whether Tmac plays well somewhere else is of no concern to the Rockets. He isn't going to get the chance to play here, period, end of story. The Rockets, and more importantly, Rick Adelman, don't want to put him on the floor for big minutes b/c they don't like what they see from the team while he is on the floor and they like the chemistry the current roster has. I'd be happy for Tmac if he plays well somewhere else, and even happier if the Rockets get some good players in return for him.
He couldn't keep his mouth shut but I thought he would be content longer than 6 games to be playing. He said he just wanted to play. He got 8 minutes. Rick told him that he wasn't going to take any more minutes away from someone else. And I can understand that. T-mac couldn't do it. It's a bummer. No one should be happy. I still think if he could be more patient and just have done what everyone asked - he would have earned his way back. I also don't think this hurts what we will get back in a potential trade so long as their are multiple teams willing to bid for his services. Most teams didn't believe the Rockets wanted to keep him, and he is an expiring contract anyway - so his value was limited more in those ways rather than any kind of trade demand.
Every GM in the league knows TMac wants out. Now, we have even less leverage. My bet is that Tracy goes to Chicago, works out with Grover and his contract expires. There's no way we would take back poor contracts.
I posted this in another thread a few weeks ago, how about this trade: Rockets get: Randolph Morrow Harrington Hughes Knicks get: T-Mac Speedy Claxton Warriors get: Jared Jefferies Carl Landry
It isn't over yet. If they can't trade him and won't buy him out, i could see T-Mac throwing a big fit.
Yeah RA we will see who has the last laugh as we see more of Ariza's shooting, and watch T-Mac be a star on whatever team. At least get Kevin Martin out of all this.
Depends on whether GS is looking to start over..... They would consider Biedrens and Maggette (who is shooting 53% BTW) as poison pill contracts...... But I would think long and hard about giving up Landry or Scola for Randolph. DD
The thing that hinges on most of this, is teams that seem to be ideal for trade partners, are teams that have a hard time attracting free agents. With a 23 million dollar expiring contract, and no faith to land top free agents (Sac, GS, Mem, etc) , that makes teams scared off.
I'm happy for TMac, I was at the Clipper game and TMac was by far the best offensive player on the team that night. He looked so far ahead of Ariza, Brooks, Landry and Scola it wasn't close. He can flat get his shot and score. As long as he doesn't have an injury set back he is a better offensive weapon than we have on the roster so we better get something good in return. Defensively he looked pathetic, but such it TMac. Anyways In Morey we Trust.
Agreed. Personally, I would not do it. Then again, I'm not sold on his potential like half the people here.
Well, this sucks because its officially the end of the Yao-TMac era. Man, that had so much potential. I thought it was the ultimate 1-2 combo at one time. Two of the most skillful players at their respective positions. But I guess like the Stevie Franchise era, everything has to come to an end. Here's to the new team plus Yao next year!
To be honest, i dont think anyone of Tmac's status would gladly agree to 6-7 minutes a game for more than 5 games.. i kinda feel bad for him Imagine if Wizards did that to Arenas, or Raptors did that to Carter, or Heat did that to Wade, or Team Canada did that to Nash, or Team China did that to Yao, or Yankees did that to Aroid, or Jays did that to Halladay..(wait hes not in Jays anymore..)
As in beat him up? Beat him off the dribble? Beat him to be the first to complain about a self-made situation?
