Its bittersweet for me to see him go. This has plenty clear to me that is was going to happen given our success without him and no way to work him in our current rotation. I hope he ends up on Eastern Conference team with a superstar next year. I want to see him succeed, but not in the WC.
As I said... Tmac and Cook for Ellis Maggette Randolph Or sub in Ellis for Biedrens.....either way works.... DD
absolutely ridiculous. allowing t-mac to play out the rest of the year could hurt this team's chances, but the ceiling for this rockets team goes higher than it is without him. without tmac, our best case scenario is squeaking by the first round and getting crushed in the second. with tmac, there was potential to compete in the second round and potentially get to the WCF. and, just from an enteratinment perspective, trevor ariza as our wing playmaker is NOT entertaining. i mean, he's a boring player who jacks bad shots and misses. a lot. i'm so disappointed in morey, for the first time.
He couldn't be patient and he couldn't keep his mouth shut. Hell, he's never been able to keep his mouth shut, or not have his foot in it, even when he was one of the top wings on the planet. I agree that it's a bummer how this has played out, but McGrady was asking for it. Literally. What bugs the hell out of me is that he's hurt our chances of getting the most out of trading him. I hope that's not true, but it probably is.
I love the thought of Ellis, but Biedrens....no way. That would be over-paying for 2 positions (Maggette). When Yao returns, Biedrens would be an expensive back-up. Maggette the same.
Lowry starts at the 1, Ellis at the 2. You need a backup pg. That team has very little weakness, only at the backup pg spot, Lowry would be fine starting in that lineup.
I hope you are willing to eat crow if T-Mac plays well for his new team, I know I will be ready if T-Mac gets hurt again or plays poorly.
Other NBA players don't see McGrady as a joke too? http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080107/SPORTS0102/801070314/1127
I see Morey going 2 possible ways with a McGrady trade. First, he's looking for young talent on longer and bigger contracts who are on teams looking to save money (i.e. Kevin Martin, Monta Ellis, etc...) Examples: McGrady and Ariza for Monta Ellis, Corey Maggette and Raja Bell or the rumored trade... McGrady for Kevin Martin and Andres Nocioni or McGrady for Luol Deng and Brad Miller Second, if that failed, he would be looking to just move McGrady for different exprings to a team that just wants to see if he still has it. Examples: McGrady for Larry Hughes and Darko Milicic or McGrady for Jermaine O'Neal Lastly, if all that fails, you just eat the contract and go into the off season with some cap space. Hopefully, he doesn't cause too much trouble and just rehabs in Chicago until next season. If he does, and you think he'll be a problem, you buy him out. If they choose this option, I would like to see them move Ariza or Battier, and possibly Andersen, so they will have enough cap space to go after a max free agent this summer.
Ellis and Maggette are overpaid ballhogs who play no defense. Isn't that the reason you want to get rid of McGrady?
Well first of all, I want him to play well elsewhere. Especially if it's the Eastern Conference. I'm ready to see him go, but I don't wish him ill. So if he goes elsewhere and looks great - I'll be thrilled. And if that means eating crow, I'll lap every bit of it up and be pleased as punch to do so. That said - I think we've seen the last of McGrady as a top notch talent. And I don't know that he'll ever be able to adjust to life as a role player.
mmmmmmm, yeah. Could probably get Washington to trade first rounders in 2010 with us also just to dump his contract since he is so overpaid, right? I sure hope so. Gilbert is only 27 years young. Yes, he has a long contract and is coming off a couple injuries. But he can still light it up. He is lighting it up. He has very good efficiency for coming back after missing basically two seasons and playing on a garbage team. And the bottom line on him is.................if we can get him to comback all the way, score a bunch of points, and help us compete big time in the playoffs, he could turn into another asset, not to mention the lottery pick we get for picking him up. Now, if that happens, and Lebron or DWade want out, do you think that Miami and Cleveland may be interested in getting a lottery pick and some serious talent back, like say Battier, Ariza, and/or Landry? The whole key with McGrady is to acquire ASSETS! We need more ASSETS....even if they are duplicative of talent we already have....because we can trade them for a primo player...if one becomes available. 2010 is a huge, huge offseason for the NBA. Somebody is going to want to come here and play for the Chinese Connection. And NIKE is fighting it with all their worth, trying to push everybody to NY, Miami, or Chicago. NIKE does not want anybody coming to H-Town. But we are going to finally override all that with having so much talent and by continuing to win that Lebron or DWade or CP3 or another top 5 talent is going to say..........I want Houston....because they see it...................they see multiple championships, they see worldwide popularity on a grand scale staring with the most populated nation on the planet....and they see the status of dominating their basketball era. Trading McGrady is all about acquiring ASSETS, ASSETS, ASSETS.
