EXACTLY, that has always been one of his biggest downfalls in my eyes, he just doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. "It's time to start upping my minutes"= your probably going to end up on a scrub team in the east very soon.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least that the Hornets are one of Moreys big trade targets. A big three way type of trade is probably more likely because of T-Macs contract size.
From Matt/Adam's 790 Blog... Tracy McGrady's Era is Over! What's Next for the Rockets? As predicted by yours truly last January, Tracy McGrady will no longer be a member of the Houston Rockets. Both McGrady's agent and the Rockets are in negotiations to get the former Superstar out of Houston. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6789894.html The question now is what can you get for McGrady? That is a good question. Most teams will take on T-Mac for non-basketball reasons. With that in mind, here are a couple of potential suitors and trades that make sense for both teams. Golden State Warriors: Don Nelson's roster is a mess and all of his players hate him. The Rockets LOVE Anthony Randolph, but would have to take on a bad contract or two to make the deal work. Golden State would probably insist on the Rockets taking Corey Maggette. My deal: Rockets send McGrady and Carl Landry to Golden State for Andres Biedrins, Corey Maggette and Anthony Randolph. Houston gets what they hope is a future star in the 20 year old Randolph, a reliable scorer in Corey Maggette and a sold 4/5 in Biedrins. Golden State clears $18 million in cap space and can build around Ellis, Stephen Curry and Carl Landry. The 2010-2011 Rockets would like this. PG Brooks, Lowry SG Ariza, Budinger SF Battier, Maggette PF Scola, Randolph C Yao, Biedrins, Andersen Utah Jazz: Don't ask me why, but Jerry Sloan REALLY likes Tracy McGrady and would be willing to take a flyer on him. The Jazz would also like to clear some cap space to resign Carlos Boozer without exceeding the luxury tax. My deal: Rockets send T-Mac and Kyle Lowry to Utah for Andrei Kirilenko, Ronnie Price, Kyle Korver and the Knicks #1 pick. The Rockets hope to get lucky in the lottery and get a versatile defender in Kirilenko along with a shooter they desperately need. If they decide that they don't like Kirilenko, he becomes a valuable expiring contract in 2010. The Jazz get a quality backup to Deron Williams and save $$$ to resign Boozer next season. The Rockets 2010-2011 roster would look like this. PG Brooks, Price SG Ariza, Budinger, (potentially Korver) SF Kirilenko, Battier PF Landry, Scola C Yao, Andersen + a lottery pick from the Knicks Sacramento Kings: The Kings will soon realize that Tyreke Evans is not a PG. When they decide to move him to SG, Kevin Martin will have to be traded. My deal: The Rockets send McGrady and a lottery protected #1 pick to the Kings for Kevin Martin and Kenny Thomas. Sacramento clears out an additional $10 million in cap space and adds another draft pick to its rebuilding arsenal. The Rockets 2010-2011 roster would look like this. PG Brooks, Lowry SG Martin, Budinger SF Ariza, Battier PF Landry, Scola C Yao, Andersen http://sports790.com/pages/mattandadam.html
well a cp3/okafor and tmac/brooks trade matches up almost perfect, but in order for them to give up cp3 i imagine we would have to suck on that horrible posey contract too. but i can't see okafor meshing very well with yao, but he would be a nice defensive player and solid rebounder even if he is extremely overpaid.
We've all been impressed with what Morey's been able to do so far, but ultimately he's going to be defined by situations like this one, where the consequences to the team are potentially great and far-reaching. In other words... go get em, Dork Elvis!
glad that its somewhat finally over hopefully tracy is traded real soon just so he can back to playing on the court. personally i wish him well wherever he may go. I've always enjoyed watching McGrady play, but i enjoy watching the Rockets more. Hopefully the team can get either a high pick, borderline all-star player and some cap relief in return. good luck to Daryl Morey and co
that trade would be interesting but the knicks have stopped sucking so it makes the pick less intriguing.
Why exactly would Golden State do this though??? They give up the 2 most valuable pieces to their future.....
