T-Mac "plays through pain" because he grimaces and announces his painfulness every time he gets a paper-cut.

EVERY NBA PLAYER PLAYS THROUGH PAIN.

By the time the playoffs roll around, every player has pain and bruises, minor injuries and just overall fatigue. The difference is, they don't cry to the media the way T-Mac does.

lol, don't act like you weren't rooting your ass off for t-mac during the 07 and 08 playoffs.

don't root for him then and then hate on him later. pick a side.

Well, I wasn't. I was rooting for team success. And when they failed, I did not feel pleasure simply because T-Mac put up big numbers. Please don't group TEAM fans like myself with PLAYER fans like you. I don't have a problem with you superstar bandwagoners. But don't assume all fans are like you.

And I don't understand what any of that has to do with my post anyway. I wasn't even hating on the guy. I just mentioned something factual. T-Mac is a diva who can't stand pain and likes to be pampered. I'm fine with such players as long as they lead us to success. But don't expect me to keep kowtowing to them once they stop being stars.

T-Mac lowers expectations due to injured knee

    By MARC BERMAN

Tracy McGrady is sobering up to the realization there may be no fairy tales for him in New York this season.

After an intoxicating Saturday night debut in which McGrady racked up 26 points in 32 minutes before an adoring Garden crowd, reality has struck the past two games. McGrady is dealing with a bruised left knee -- the same knee that underwent microfracture surgery a year ago yesterday.

T-Mac, so brassy in Friday's introductory press conference, lowered his own expectations following his tentative six-point, eight-shot outing in Boston Tuesday, reshifting his goals to staying healthy rather than being the Knicks' leading man. The Knicks are 0-3 with McGrady in the lineup.

"This is just all about trying to get myself back, getting up and down the court, being able to finish this year out," said McGrady, who is averaging 15.7 points in three games. "It's really not about my results. This is about physically and mentally getting through this season."

Perhaps the Knicks (19-37, eight losses in a row) will see a refreshed McGrady tomorrow in Washington after two days' rest. McGrady, who will participate in his first Knicks practice today, played three games in four nights, averaging 29.7 minutes, after being exiled since Dec. 23.

McGrady nearly has doubled the total of 46 minutes he played in six games with the Rockets, but has complained of having "no legs" and knee soreness after halftime.

On Monday night, McGrady limped off the court with a bruised knee in the final minutes, and he seemed impaired in Tuesday's game. T-Mac said he took on the role of distributor in Boston because of his condition. He notched eight assists, working well with David Lee on the pick-and-roll. But it was less than Mike D'Antoni's vision of McGrady as "our best player."

"These guys are full fledged in shape," McGrady said. "They have almost a full season on me. They got the rhythm. I'm trying to get that on the fly."

McGrady said it won't be till next season when he's "100 percent," and that he feels he is two weeks away from being in game shape.

T-Mac has said he would love to stay a Knick next season as a complementary player if they bring in two marquee free agents. And he sounds as if he hopes they re-sign Lee.

"I love playing with him," McGrady said. "He's a very smart basketball player. He sets good screens, knows when to, and has great hands for a big guy."

Wait, what? It will be next year before he is totally in shape.

Huh, and people were complaining about the Rockets not wanting to help him get there on their nickel?

    Kids...SHEESH !

DD he said about 2 weeks to be in shape. But he won't be 100 percent till next year. Physically and Mentally. Probably more mental at this stage.

So did he actually bump knees to get this injury or is his knee just flaring up?

There's two situations here. If he got it bumped and it's aggravated his knee, and now he's stating he won't be good till next year, makes sense. Terribad luck for him, but it is what it is.

Now if he plain is just not ready to play and his knee is just going bad on him from simply playing, then that's another thing.

I know, and that is pretty much exactly what the Rockets said...about him not fighting through it...etc...

They made the choice to move on because Tmac was not going to help this year, it was then and still is...the RIGHT choice.

He bumped knees twice in the Milwaukee game. But his debut was a mirage. So this is a setback. But it was delusional for people to think he was still T-mac.

He hasn't played for almost 2 seasons. And even if he was 100 mental on the knee. He still wouldn't be the same player. At least not right out the gate. It's gonna take some time to see if he can still be tracy of old. I don't think it's fair to judge him after 3 games and say he's done either. But he has to reinvent himself and take a secondary role. He didn't want to do that here and that's why he was shipped out.

It's starting to look like he's finally coming to terms with that. but who knows. If he goes out and scores 30 in his next game he'll be back to talking about picking his spots and enforcing his will on the game lolll

Why are you hating on Kevin Martin? He was just dealt to Houston to be our go to guy and already people like you are already bashing him? I bet you rather have Von Wafer over him.....

Don't worry, I'm sure if things are not going his way during the first half he will fake a back/knee injury.
