How do you make that comparison? Tracy McGrady is loathed like a terrorist? I don't think so. Part of the vitriol stems from unwavering McGrady fans who refuse to believe he has ANY responsibility for the place he finds himself in, while straight-up bashing the Rockets and placing all of the blame on them. The whole truth of this story has yet to be told, but some of you won't bother with waiting for the facts to come out. This isn't McGrady's first rodeo. He's been sent packing before, but who cares about that, right?
I do not care what MG Laaaazzyyyyyyy prefers...... MG Selfish should go to ... www.shutup.com his been paid 23 million to do nothing......
They shouldn't buy him out, unless it saves them a lot of money. I don't think it will benefit the Rockets, and that's all that matters. Tracy can play for another team next year.
what's with all the effin hate? did you guys read the article? tmac didnt even get interviewed. and he's been low profile ever since both parties agreed to do the trade. you guys are just plain hateful. even if he said it himself that he wont mind going to philly or now say he prefers NY, what's so wrong with that? the dude just wants to play. you houston only fans really are a hateful bunch. the dude hasnt said anything bad about the city and its fans. he even loves houston and would probably have resigned to a reduced salary if DM and RA werent adamant about trading him. the one time he screwed the rockets team by blocking the trade for carter even turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and you guys still cant get over it? cmon. cant wait for him to get traded and see him finally play more than 7mins a game. hopefully he gets bought out and signs with a contender.
Would you do this deal? Why or why not? McGrady + Scola for Hughes + (Marcus) Landry + Harrington Why Houston would do it: - The two million in savings would push the Rockets back under the luxury tax threshold, thus saving them the tax penalty which they would incur otherwise. - Being under the luxury tax also brings the benefit of sharing in the collective tax pie allocated for by the league byway of teams paying the luxury tax for being over the line. Although these figures will change in the upcoming days, this amounts to roughly $4 million dollars. - These two factors combined saves the Rockets $6 million, about the same amount the Rockets spent on Anderson, Budiner, Lluli and Taylor this past year. - Both Huges and Harrington are pieces that could potentially help the Rockets this year, and at the very least, their contracts both expire at the end of this season. - Marcus Landry is a cap filler at this point, unless his development is on the same upwards trajectory as his brother (unlikely at this point in time). Why New York would do it: - Walsh has expressed the desire to bring McGrady to the Big Apple to draw fans back to MSG. From the workouts he's attended, he must believe McGrady still has something left for him to pull the trigger on this trade. - Scola brings them another productive piece in their desire to make a playoff push this year. As dubious as that sounds for non-Knicks fans, bringing in Scola and McGrady for the all-offense/no-defense Harrington and a benched/dog-housed Hughes would be better than standing pact. - Both T-Mac and Scola's contracts expire at the end of the season as well, thus giving New York plenty of cap space to try (and likely fail) in attracting big name free agents next year. Why Houston would NOT do it: - Scola is viewed by the Rockets organization as a long-term piece in their championship push. Thus, trading him would cause animosity and he would be less willing to resign with us at the end of the season. - Management feels a Hughes and Harrington swap for Scola does not improve the Rockets short-term, nor does it affect them (positively) in the long-run. Therefore, the status quo may be better at this time as to not disrupt team chemistry. - The Rockets can land a better deal, such as one for AI or Butler. Why New York would NOT do it: - They have other pieces in play for trades with other teams. The Knicks are rumored to be in trade talks with a myriad of teams in the league. They may find themselves in a more favorable situation. God forbid somebody agrees to take on Jeffries contract in any given deal. Walsh would have to jump at that chance at (almost) all costs. - Mike D'Antoni, like many in this organization, hates Tracy McGrady. Hey, as per the Addidas commericals, anything's possible.
okay i am not a "mcgrady fan" i thought what he did last year was a lil uncalled for, but its not like all he did here the past few years was screw the rockets over, he gave us some fine moments too that needs to be appreciated... its funny to me because people here hate him sooo much like he slept with their girlfriends or somethin... for me, i dont want him on this team anymore, but i DO wish him luck and i DO hope he gets out of the first round, and i DO wish him nothing but the best... (oh and to the grammar thread police, relax! it's a thread, an online thread, there are no tests right when you log out of clutchfans )
You're right he did have some fine moments as a Rocket. Those days are gone. I don't wish him ill, but I do wish we were past the trade deadline. This board has been worn out with posts like the one above tagging on "Houston only" fans. That's taking TOFs and YOFs to a new low. The Tracy McGrady saga and his fans have now brought us HOFs. Yay.
