Option 4 - Come to peace with the fact that McGrady will likely never be "100%" again in his career, and can't be expected to be the superstar he was in Orlando except for a few games here and there. Adjust the game plan accordingly.

We need to go into this season with Yao posting as a primary option, using Artest as a playmaker from the low post, Adleman's high post motion offense (if guys will commit to it), and reducing McGrady's role. Banking on him to be our primary playmaker isn't going to work, especially if he's already saying he's banged up. Let him float on the perimeter and pick his spots. Let Artest bang and attack the basket in his stead.

If surgery would keep him out 10 weeks or less, I'd vote for surgery. Otherwise, let him sit a month to rest the knee and then come back. We don't need him the whole season to clinch the playoffs.

with the number of blowoff wins we be getting this season, tmac/yao will have plenty of rest. :)

I think the offense will revert back to Yao as the first option. So McGrady won't be the primary play maker unless Yao is sitting or having an off night. We've been exposed to McGrady being the primary option b/c of Yao's injury situation over the last couple of seasons.

Well, that's what I see at least. So in a sense, it's giving you the situation you described above pending a healthy squad.

I agree. Everyone knows that with Artest in the fold it'll be easier for McGrady not to exert himself as much, but I think people are sleeping on Scola. If you look at his numbers after the allstar break, they're pretty damn good. I wouldn't be surprised if he averaged those for an entire season, if not better. In that sense, I think we actually have 4 guys who can create their own offense in yao, mcgrady, scola and artest, putting even less pressure on tmac.

Excellent post, if he can plays, he will play. If he had felt too much pain he wouldn't have been even scrimmaging...easy
