You're right, but the one thing that this team is lacking is a guy with a chip on his shoulder. A Vernon Maxwell or Mario Elie type player that wants to prove that everyone else was wrong for not drafting them, or trading them or for whatever reason. Get that piece of the puzzle and this team will go far.
Thanks to everyone for the recaps! Great stuff. I think it REALLY says something about the city of Houston that McGrady is picking everything up and moving here full time. I mean he is from the Orlando area. Clearly he loves Houston. Houston seems to be a serious hot bed for NBA players to live there, even if they arent on the Rockets.
The interview is on thier website in the audio vault. http://www.sportsradio610.com/goout.asp?u=http://images.radcity.net/5492/903220.mp3
Thanks for the link RAS... The "The White Boy Power Squad" !!! Tracy seemed to enjoy that as much as I did
I travel alot, new york, alaska, europe, south america wherever, I'm currently in Prague, and the only thing I truly miss about home, is the food and 610 radio! I love matt, Im still hoping there gonna pair him back jeremy foster, \get the streaming
I'm sure he loves the tax benefits, too... like all the other athletes that live in the Houston area or at least have homes there.
McGrady has the chance to be THE FACE of Houston sports for the next 6-8 years... just like Hakeem was in the mid 90's, Nolan was in the 80's, and Earl was in the 70's. I was ready to give this title to Beltran, if he had signed here... but we all know how that went. McGrady can now take the mantle.
As soon as the Texans have any sniff of success, David Carr will be the poster child for Houston sports. Pretty white boy, QB for the hometown NFL team... Come on, you don't have to be pgabriel to come up with that one.
Yes... but that's IF they sniff success. Remember, this city would have annointed Bagwell and Biggio above Hakeem if they had simply just gotten to the World Series (let alone won it) all those times in the late 90's, when they were carrying the franchise. Alas, they didn't. Same thing here... I definitely see McGrady/Yao tasting some real playoff success far before the Texans. In fact, if the Texans don't have a good year next year, you might start to see some frustrations in their fan base (I know I will be)... as the honeymoon for the franchise will most definitely be over at that point.
Does anyone notice that in short 1 line interview clips u see of TMAC he seems like a little cocky, concieded person, always saying words like 'I took over', and 'me....I', 'I did this'....etc.........but in actual conversation interviews you can tell that he is not this type of person at all. He is just laid back, intelligent, and just real cool and smooth.........just real likable.
