    what a turrible turrible thread

    stop hating on the man

    those aren't excuses
    those are the truth
-yes, he hasn't played for a longggg time so he doesn't know how good/bad he'll be, it's the NBA, if you don't play for a while, you might suck and not get use to the speed of the game
-and yes, nobody expects **** out of him, b/c they haven't seen him play in so long, everybody think he sucks now. he's right about that.

On 2nd thought, after stepping away....

The tone of those quotes go against his own proclaimed dogged determination to prove everyone was about his health and skills. They dont at all show the "I AM READY. PLAY ME OR TRADE ME!" approach he was giving the Rockets. They dont back up his trainer/agent's claims that McGrady was ready to go full out months ago. There was some absolutism to his approach. All of a sudden there's some hesitancy. So yes, its a bit of an about-face.

Wouldnt say its all out excuses. More he's gone cautiously optimistic now, in contrast to his amped-up self promotions. But its just a matter of time anyways...

We just don't want to be lied to. T-Mac can still obviously play, don't tell us he can't. Just tell us the truth, that Rick didn't want him around, all-star player or not.

Problem is no one wants to see a coach deciding whether an all-star that can still play should be shipped out of town. That's Don Nelson like.
