Fictional chron article: "T-Mac today saved the city of Houston from a major catastrophe by ramming his car into a truck full of terrorist explosives seeking to ram itself into the Toyota center. He managed to jump out at the last minute and is only sporting minor cuts and scrapes. The terrorists all died upon the truck explosion. No one else was hurt." Fictional article commentary from Carl Herrera and others like him: "See, he can't even drive all the way to the truck! And he managed to get injured again? What an IDIOT! Trade this waste of an expiring contract to NYC, see if he can save their city! (Ends nerd rage)" Yea. In some people's eye everything is indeed T-Mac's fault. Can't do right no matter what.
I don't know about all that. But it's curious that something so trivial is newsworthy...especially since McGrady doesn't have much of a post game to teach.
i think dorsey just didn't say what he meant well...i think he means he's favoring it by sitting out, as in being careful with it, but on the court he looks good to go.
To all of you that are under the illusion that somehow Dorsey is going to play and contribute for this team or that he can be "developed" into something..................CD worked with him all summer. Who do you think is a better big man coach, the man that worked with, developed, coached, and trained Hakeem and Yao or ..................McGrady? They worked with Dorsey all summer. And all they've got is a foul machine whose only offensive move outside the lob slam is to try a turn around hook shot after dribbling the ball in the paint against 2 big man and a guard???? Mark my words. It's a waste of time. The Rockets have already figured out that Dorsey cannot contribute. They are keeping him around as trade bait and if nothing else as 6 fouls to throw at Shaq/Gasol/Duncan in case the rest of our bigs get into foul trouble. Dorsey is not even going to be on the active roster except for spot games where we are playing against teams with multiple 7 footers. He is the 15th man. McGrady would profit this team a whole lot more by working with Trevor, Chase, and Jermaine. Is he willing to do that? By the way, I am not a TMac hater. I am more hopeful than most that he is going to come back this year with a glint in his eye and is going to give us that superstar we need. I want that to happen. I am maintaining that it is r****ded to think that he can help us by "developing" the 15th man. It reaks of a publicity stunt.
Yea, this. I think T-mac is favoring it in the sense that its the injury that's holding him back for now, but he still looks good on the court otherwise.
No one is saying he will do a better job than CD or anyone else for the matter. I'm sure TMac can teach him based on his xp and what he's seen from Yao. Just because you don't play PF/C doesn't mean you don't see what's going on in the post. You can still teach whether it's your specialty or not. Perhaps, Dorsey reached out to him. "I've seen how he posts up and he makes moves so easy and gets to the basket. Who else to learn from than Tracy?” You're just an armchair fan but you know Dorsey's flaws. You could teach Dorsey a thing or two. Sometimes, a fellow just needs someone (in this case, someone he respects) to say it to his face. Considering the size of his contract, Morey believes he is still worth the project. You are just being an ass for no reason.
Who is to say Mac just likes Dorsey and wants to help him? You can't determine that. Nor can you determine it was for publicity.
If CD couldn't improve Dorsey, don't think Tracy will be able to make a significant difference in Dorsey but its good to see Tmac is teaching and Joey is willing to learn. Pops should join in as well since he will get more playing time that Dorsey.
It is not helping the team to teach Dorsey anything. Maybe it helps Dorsey somehow. That's not my point. My point is McGrady is not helping the team by teaching a player that isn't going to play all he (McGrady) knows about post play. Hopefully he is working with Adelman to help the team by teaching and sharing with young guys that are going to be playing like Ariza, Budinger, Pops, etc. That would help the team a lot if he is involved in helping these rotational players get better.
I can determine that it is not helping the team............unless somehow Dorsey works his way into the rotation because of the great knowlege that McGrady imparts to him and all of a sudden he becomes a signficant offensive threat. Now let's be realistic. Is that going to happen? Those of you that think it is should take two chill pills. I'll be surprised if Dorsey is still on our roster after January.
Well, it sounds to me that Joey went up to T-Mac for advice. Is he supposed to say "No, your'e gonna rot on the bench anyway, why waste my time."
Kobe worked with Von Wafer when he wasn't in the lakers' rotation. What an idiot! Didn't he know that the lakers had already moved on? Older players shouldn't teach younger players that need help anything.
joptmc, how do you know that T-Mac only helped Dorsey? As a veteran, he has the knowledge to help out younger players and it just so happens that the Rockets have these guys in surplus. Who's to say he hasn't taught Ariza anything? Or Budinger or Taylor? Maybe this just caught the media's eye one day. Seriously, get that stick out of your ass.
I'm pretty sure if there was a fake article with TMac saying that, jopatmc would've nerdraged on TMac still.
With your reasoning isnt it stupid for the Rox to even keep Dorsey. I mean if there is no possible chance that he can ever be a rotation player, why waste practice time on him. Why waste a roster spot. Why waste NBA per diem. Why waste the uniform makers time. Why waste the water guy's time prepping a bottle for him. Why waste the trainers time. Whats gonna happen if Chuck blows his knee out in game 1 and Scola's ankle isnt 1OO percent. Do Anderson, Landry and Pops get all the C and PF mins? Working with Dorsey in no way hurts the team. Even if Dorsey never gets game time, making him better in any way at least helps the guys who go against him in practice. You act as if Ariza, Chase, Jermaine, and Dorsey asked for help and Tmac blew off the other guys and only helped Dorsey. Do you think no one on the team dared to help Landry his rookie year. There was no way anyone thought he would be in the rotation as a rookie and we all know how that played out. Dont call Tmac r****ded, say the whole thing reeks of a publicity stunt and then turn around and say you are actually pulling for Tmac to return to form more then most.
