there's no way he can jump where his head is over the rim like he once did. there's no way he can go from one basket to another blowing by even the quickest guys in transition for a dunk near the ft line. those things are long gone. it's not just about pain. there are certain things tracy can't do anymore than a young mcgrady can. it comes with age. but that doesn't mean he can't be just as good. the start of last year WAS HIS BEST START in his career. he put up 29 ppg on 46% shooting with 6 dimes. if he can just shore up his mid-range game to around 46-47% shooting like he used to average before this year, add to that the 40% 3pt shot and 80% ft, he should be EXTREMELY efficient. hopefully with time, he can just play his game. and that's still at a very elite level. he put up a triple double on a much improved denver team, esp. on the defensive end. and he wasn't even dominating the ball. like i said, i never knew why people worried about tracy. as he gets healthier, he's the least of our problems.
I hope he does cause he there was one play I remember when he hade a easy dunk on the fastbreak but went for a layup and fell into a cameraman. It look like he got about 2 inches off the ground! Old Tmac would have dunked it.
T-Mac's been aged ever since he got into the league. He's had a 40 yr. old's back and a 40 yr. old's knees. Don't worry, T-Mac will still pull off insane elevation for a dunk, it will just rarely happen. And not until he's worked some strength back into that knee, right now he has so little explosion. That layup he made last night, left handed fast break, would have been a highlight on ESPN last season, or the season before that, or the season before that, etc.
t-mac will never be the t-mac we saw in the dallas series, but he can be the t-mac in last year's playoffs, which is a jumpshooting t-mac who shoots at a 40% clip.
Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing. He didn't even skip a beat. It was perfectly understood like some kind of pseudo-language. I, on the other hand, still have no clue what the first guy meant.
He was playing hurt last season. If he recovers I expect him to play better than the Jazz series (and he was amazing btw, kept us from being swept). On the other hand I want to tamp down the expectations. Remember the title says expects fully recovery(lol I didn't notice there was a typo till now), not Mcgrady is fully recovered. We'll have to see his performance the next few games before we get all giddy. There's a chance he might crash back to earth again. The good news is the confidence is back, and to me that's the most important thing. I firmly believe Tmac was serious when he said he will be "fierce" this year, and I can't wait to see him deliver on his promise
I think for 25-30 games at some point in the season he is going to be 100% of 2008 Tmac which is still a hell of a player. It is almost automatic that he will pick up a few new nagging injuries during the season so let's all hope those are healed up and he can be at his peak at playoff time. I thought he looked good last night. Not physically but with his aggressiveness and what seemed to be a controlled fire type of mentality. He seemed focused, determined but not so much that he burned himself out mentally like he often does when he gets hot early in a game and runs around screaming and pumping his fists only to look mentally and physically drained at the end. What I want to know is how the hell does his shot look better now than it has since his Orlando days. Maybe that knee injury got him to work on a more consistent release?
He said it has something to do with arc. The staff told him to lower the arc on his shot so he's been jumping lower on his jumpshots. I think he spent the offseason working on his shots as well. He's been shooting pretty good fts lately
