i don't "hate" or dislike anyone on this board. it's a very fun and informative forum. even when i disagree, usually it's on very good terms. you have some good points in regards to tracy (mentally weak for example), but A LOT of misinformed ones. tracy really just wants to play. when you're a player of tracy's status, who was literally EMBARRASSED last year, you want to come back and prove people wrong. it's great that he's anxious to return. it shows that maybe he has finally regained that inner fire that drove him to be one of the best. obviously tmac is not going to be as good as when he was in his prime, but let's see what a movitated tmac still has to offer. i think he's going to surprise A LOT of people. i think his jumpshot has to improve A TON. and i think he's ready to adjust his game and take advantage of the skills/athleticism he does have left.
No, no pager, LOL! I've just been stumbling on to your posts that bring up Scola in threads where I didn't expect to see him mentioned. And I have to correct you (I'm sure Luis would, if he knew of the error) about Scola. He ain't 30. Nope, he's 29 and will be until April. I'm sure it's an innocent mistake on your part, but you do have an amazing ability to bring Scola up in any conceivable scenario or situation where a trade might occur or, in this case, a complaint about "older players" getting minutes. As an avid fan of the Argentine, freely admitted, the dude ain't old. He hasn't lost a step like Battier has. He's 29 and healthy (knock on wood!) as a horse. He hasn't, to the best of my knowledge, missed a game since the Rockets lucked out and stole him from SA. Yet last night he made Landry, a guy I'm also a big fan of, look like a hopeless chump in comparison. Sure, they go back and forth as to who is hot on a given night... when they both are, we're hard to beat, and I know Scola doesn't fit your "ideal 4" image. You know, 6'10" or 6'11" with an 8 foot wingspan, or damn near, who can jump out of the gym, but every player on a team can't be like that. Why you are so eager to rid of of a player like Scola is, and remains, a mystery to me, yet there it is. You do want rid of him and bring it up at any opportunity. That's OK, but if I run across it, don't be surprised if I make a comment about it. It ain't personal.
Someone made the point that Tracy's should go because of his age and that we should invest in youth. It was then pointed out that we have other players over the age of 30 who are being played in excess of 30 minutes taking minutes away from other young players. It was a fair point to make. If Tracy is too old and we should go with youth, we should move Battier and Scola for youth.
Huh? So, TMac is ready, and has been checked out by a top notch physician, yet the organization is not wanting to play him. HUH...??? Now where have I read that? "Before McGrady began his rehabilitation in Chicago this summer, he had to be cleared by a top athletic surgeon for full-contact basketball. Ultimately, McGrady was deemed OK to play daily against All-Star talents like Dwyane Wade(notes) and Devin Harris(notes)." Reality is calling fellas.......wake up. DD
A doctor giving you the ok to play around in the offseason is not the same decision that the FO has to make right now. This is a NBA basketball decision. McGrady is a handsomly paid employee of the rockets and its in their best interest to make sure they take all the precautions neccessary before putting him back on the court. Theres alot riding on this decision.
I don't think there is anything riding on the decision at all, in fact, I believe the decision has already been made. The Rockets chose Rick Adelman's team style over TMac's me style. DD
Basketball is basketball. An athlete like mcgrady can fit in to any style. It just takes time. Time that is being missed out on right now.
That is not the case though. T-Mac doesn't and will not play the current style that Adelman is playing. He likes to slow it down and the Rockets aren't built for that anymore. Mac needs the ball in his hands. That's not how Rick's offense works.
I agree. It is not like Tracy cannot play that style. Hell, he was the biggest part of a team winning 22 games in a row while playing under Adelman. Why nobody complained about it? But if they have already decided to move him, than just do it.
Once again... That was a different style. They weren't running the same style back then as they are now. Was AB the starting PG? No Was Kyle our back up PG? No Totally different team that had Deke playing center...
Ok ok ok... I'll stop... We're not going to win a championship until we trade for Artest and have T-Mac running the show... Let's not forget Alston either...
That's true but you sure can find similarities. They were still without Yao. And in my opinion, as a basketball player, especially a pro you can fit to any style.
