I kind of hope this is it. For all he has put the Rockets through, make him suffer in his contract year.
I said in my post that the Rockets probably didnt tell him that for all the legal reasons and that Tracy's team probably know the reasons why and could tell him why He went ahead with the nov 18th date cuz well Tracy is, like most people, a selfish person. a) he gets his money regardless, so he probably doesnt care that its saving Les some money. He wants to go out there and play and try to get a good contract for the next 3-5 years this offseason. Right now there is a lot of bad press about him and doubts he has a lot to try to repair, if he is being forced to sit out when he can play then I can understand his anger. Right now there is no one saying "look at tracy being the team player staying out of games so the team can save money" and of course no one will every say that so he is getting a lot of extra crap for no reason (listen tracy does deserve a lot of heat, but if the above is the case I wouldnt blame him for it I think most people would do what he is doing) b) if there is something written in his contract where if he doesnt play X amount of games over the course of his contract maybe in the final year the team only pays him 90% of his contract? Maybe he can play but the team is purposefully holding him for this reason? (that nov 23rd date seems very out of the blue and holding fast) there are incentives always written into contracts we dont know what if any are in Tracy's. Tracy hasnt gone to the media and said "i can play they are holding me out games" when he very well could have. You have plenty of other players call out their teams management either openly demand trades/money/trade other players/firings ...at least this season (last season Tracy did f the team over with the whole surgery announcement) he sent that email in hopes to force the Rockets hand and well luckily for us this time Les and Morey did not budge. Tracy has been quiet since he could have easily gone back out to the media again but hasnt. Last night's warmup thing I felt was done more as a joke than anything. I am not a fan of Tmac's but he is a Rocket right now just trying to treat him badly is not going to help management at all both with Tracy and any future possible signings cuz after Tracy is either traded or walks he can easily bad mouth Houston's front office which players will take into consideration. The guy wont be back next season (imo) so why part on bad terms? Play him the necessary games that is needed to showcase his talent and then either trade him or let him walk at seasons end
there is no drama, the man wants to get back from an injury, he is doing what literally ANY player would do after not being able to play with his team when they arguably made need him the most (without yao) they are still the highest paid on our team, so they mean SOMETHING to our management. take your personal feelings of tmac and throw them off the ledge, because they don't mean s*&t. if tmac is ready to play DM is going to play him, because it gives us a more realistic chance of winning, and all of your (not you personally, this goes to tmac haters) reasons that they will bench him won't really matter much, they don't care if he is a distraction, they don't care if he is a ball hog, they don't care if his defense isn't spectacular, it's tracy mcgrady, and if yao healed magically healed in two weeks you would see his ass out there too. face it, tmac is coming back you might as well embrace it, instead of whining and complaining about how bad he is for this team. maybe try cheering the guy on ? so i'll be the first to officially shout this out to tmac since the rest of the irrational moronic fans can't realize what it takes to go far in this league. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR RETURN MR. MCGRADY I SINCERELY HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO FULLY RECOVER AND BRING THIS TEAM A RING. to anyone insulted by the "irrational moronic fans" comment, suck it up, because it really is irrational to not want a healthy star on this team. i love this team, i love our hard working guys, but we need an "it" factor
Much is being made of this year's free agents bonanzo. Most of the top free agents will remain with their squads. Hence, the smart GMs will recognize this fact. Tracy McGrady's contract will continue to be the property of the Houston Rockets.
That would be worse case, but ugly to me would be Tmac saying he is ready and the team saying "no you are not" His agent would have no idea....there is no way they say anything to him.....it would be stupid business....loose lips sink ships. It depends upon what direction the team is headed in regards to going forward. DD
I ABSOLUTELY beleive T-Mac EXPECTS 10+ Mill a year money. There is not a doubt in my mind that i what he is looking for. . . I will be SHOCKED if he signs for 6 Mill with ANYONE [though I don't think he will be as stupid as SpreeWell] Rocket River
Ok, how is it bad when a player wants to come back and play and the org says no because they want to make sure he's healthy??? That's exactly what DM is saying (read the other thread you posted in). He says it's great T_mac wants to be back - that it's a positive, but they are going to do the MRI first. Why are you trying to spin this into some sort of controversy that isn't there!
I never said the team would tell his agent (where did i ever say that) I said his agent would be smart enough knowing whats on Tracy's contract/what the team's and league's insurance policies are to figure out what is going on. I mean if idiots like me could speculate that it could be for insurance money and realize thats a high possibility what makes you think his agent who has all the necessary tools to figure it out for sure wouldnt do the same? of course (i'll say it AGAIN) the team wont tell him anything but thats not to say that Tracy and his folks wont be able to figure out whats going on.
Not yet, they are barely there, but if Tmac starts practicing and feels good and the organization basically is still not playing him or not playing him as much as he thinks he should be playing it could get worse..... DD
He might be able to figure it out, but he would have no knowledge of it from the franchise's side..... Fair enough DD
Kind of what he did a couple of weeks ago... Telling yahoo sports writers that he planned on being back last night and then changing his story after the Rockets say no he won't be back that night.. The 23rd is insurance based. He knows that. He is just antsy to get back on the court. He is trying to portray that he is the "ultimate fighter" now. Being ready before schedule. That if he had his way, he would be playing. It's all about image. He is attempting to save his... Contract year= "all out effort" by McGrady...
I agree, this has nothing to do with McGrady and everything to do with the organization and which direction they are going. And if Tmac knows or suspects it is insurance related, it could get VERY ugly...... DD
not THAT ugly. I mean if it's insurance related and Tmac suspects/knows this, he would only have to wait out technically past the Mavs game on the 25th. Someone on here mentioned that was the 15th game of the season for the insurance to be collected. Then after that, in theory tmac will be able to play.
oh. well how exactly does that insurance policy work? can they collect on the full 23 million? Meaning can they sit him out the entire year and not pay a dime out of their own pocket?
How is it not drama? He tells ESPN that he is going to play on a certain date. Rockets management said that he is not and gave their own date of when he will have an MRI. Then he shows up in uniform ready to play on the date that he specified. Adelman then says that there is no timetable for his return. How often do you here of teams taking their time getting a player back from an injury? Most of the time they push them to get out there before they are ready. This is the last year of his contract; don’t you think that they would want to use him to the fullest?
