Not really. Yao wasn't limping along all year only to quit on the team without notice. Moreoever, his injury wasn't as severe as anything that requires microfracture surgery. Plus, he wasn't in a contract that expired this year. So no, the same thing couldn't have and wasn't said about Yao last year.

Being too injured to move is not quitting...its being injured.

Let's see age difference, length of time in NBA difference, the same knee and back injuries every year compared to a ankle stress fracture, Yao isn't a twig, Yao hasn't lost most of his athleticism. Which one of those do you want me to use to prove you wrong?

I agree. T-Mac was only going to hurt the team by trying to limp through the season. I still support T-Mac and have never been a basher of him since he got here. I do however think his time in Houston is done and his time in the NBA is numbered.

To be honest, if T-Mac WAS a twig, we wouldn't see him out....think about it...

It's clearly all opinion and conjecture, so I don't see why any logical person would be alarmed by it.

And yes, this thread has been done already.

Well, it's only natural to assume that t-mac's days are numbered. With the amount of injury plagued seasons he's had, with that body of his, and with the mileage on his creaky joints, it's safe to assume that he might never play a game in Houston again. He might not even be able to play anywhere else, either.

This is really depressing to me as he was/is my favorite player, but everything comes to an end, I suppose. I'm so bummed cause I can't find a new favorite player to replace him.

    you guys are too naived.

Tmac days with the rockets are numbered. He may play again, but not in Rockets uniform, Book it.

Think people think, logically speaking. Why would a team spend 23mil on a player when his teammates can do it without him? Not to mention this 23mil player can no longer stay consisently on the court for 82 games?

Would be be that dumb to keep that player, or would you try to maybe just maybe get someone in the biggest FA pool?

you can be the biggest tmac homer, but at least try to use some common sense. I haven't even talk about the injury, team chemistry, locker...issues

Even if the Rockets don't want him back, what other team will?? For 22 million, nobdy will trade for him, until the trade deadline, and even then we wouldn't get back anything of much value, except more over paid players, and possibly a draft pick.

I say, we keep him, let him play to see if he actually has anything left, and if it doesn't work out, we use that $ on free agency.

Wow once again guys are taken things to the head. Don't believe everything you hear or read. What does Avery Johnson know? He doesn't work for the organization to know whats going on. Opinions are opinions. A guess. The media is just doing there job.

nothing is set in stone. there is way too much up in the air, and this is not the right time to be worried abotu it.

how will tracy come back from his surgery?
whats the offseason plan for ron? wafer?
what will other teams offer for his expiring?
what is the coaching/staff situation going to be?
whats the salary cap going to be?
what are tracy's long-term plans and salary demands?

all of these are important in determining his value to the rockets, and what they will/should do with him.

While I still love Tracy, as many other posters have stated, we can't count on him to come back anywhere close to his old form. I know he's due to get paid something like $21mm next year. Can we restructure it so that it's more like $5mm per year over 4 years and then use the $16mm difference in 2009 to pick up a top FA?
