Chris Bosh in the playoffs playoffs... 6th season, 1 playoff appearance, 39.6 FG% over 6 games, 1st round exit
nice post BrooksBall. Im not ok with TMAC not making out of the playoffs, but i am ok with the fact that he has incredible numbers in the playoffs. there are much more players in the NBA that perform horribly. If we look in baseball, look at Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio. They were heroes in Houston, even though they sucked it up in the playoffs year in and year out. I dont think TMAC deserves this 'Loser' title. Its not like he lost to weak teams.
Firstly: Chris Bosh in his 5th season (not even completed) Secondly: Been to the playoffs playoffs ONCE! Thirdly: Vince Carter is a a$$ and Bosh has been THE man for about only 2 seasons! Laslty: 23 years old. Don't compare Bosh to McGeedy.......once deteriorating and the other is waiting to flourish. …….. not hating on the Rockets, just Mcgeedy. When the Rockets play the Raptors I’m rooting for the Rocks!!!!
That was all coming from Chicago. After all that trade speculation ended the Lakers I think it was their owner said Deng was offered right off the bat while Kobe was never being offered.
New York owes a pick to Utah (via Phoenix) sometime in the next several years. It will be a major impediment to Houston getting a First Round pick from New York that can be used in 2008 or 2009. If the pick would be something more distant than 2009, then there wouldn't be much incentive to do the trade from Houston's POV (hopefully). If the goal is shedding salary by going to contract(s) ending sooner than McGrady's does, then it seems there would be options from other teams besides from New York. Various combinations of players with contracts expiring in 2008 & 2009 would achieve the same goal of shedding salary ASAP and there is probably a greater likelihood of getting a usable draft pick in 2008 or 2009 than doing the trade with the Knicks and a more distant pick. The downside of taking more players with smaller contracts would be that the roster limit would be breached and some contracts would have to be bought out ASAP. It seems more palatable to spend a bit on buying out a few players early than having Starbury wearing a Rockets uniform. NBA Contracts
GATER, capwise, could a buyout be worked with Marbury prior to a trade, a condition of which would be that he was exercising his ETO, thus clearing cap space for this summer, but nonetheless paying Marbury more than just this year's remaining salary? Otherwise, I don't see Marbury walking away from $22m in 08-09.
And if Marbury would accept a buyout that cleared his salary off the cap this summer, I would instead offer Battier, Rafer, MJames and Snyder for Marbury. That would clear up $10-12 million in cap space this summer. TMac's salary then comes off the book in the summer of 2010, when LeBron, DWade, Bosh et al may be unrestricted free agents.
Why would we trade Tracy McGrady for someone even Rafer Alston disses... See Thread I mean this is like you have Jessica Alba as a sex slave, and you decide to trade her for Opera Winfery for a change... OMG i need my whiskey.
I don't know if this has been posted yet http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/columnists/lawrence/index.html?page=1
McGrady, Alston, James, and Fancy for Marbury, Lee, Robinson, Jones, and Morris plus two firsts (make this years protected such that we get it if Utah doesn't and vice versa then add another unprotected). We keep Robinson and Lee and the rest of the contracts are off the books next year (except maybe Marbury's there seems to be a lot of debate on that). The ROX would only have three salaries committed after the next season: Yao, Battier, and Brooks. If they could sign Arenas or someone that would put them in good shape, with two early to mid first round picks probably coming out of the Knicks. I think they could shop for a better deal, and would rather keep McGrady than make this trade, but it is doable and could be made to benefit the team.
