I don't want the Rockets to trade McGrady unless he asks for a trade, gets old and can't really play anymore or if the Rockets can get younger+equal or better players in return. Right now, there is no way we can get equal value back for him and he is still a monster in the playoffs - so I hope this trade doesn't happen (especially not for Starbury!). Best case scenario is that Tmac smoothly fits into the current Rocket system and is more confident in his teammates, then these trades rumors would go away :)

I can't agree with that. Tmac looked pretty happy on the sidelines the last few games. Perhaps he was frustrated with the losing but now that the Rockets look pretty good without him, he thinks that he will make them only better. It could happen. And everything Morey and Management are saying indicates the Rockets want this too.

I think the reason for so many trade rumors started with TMac disclosing his dissatisfaction with friends that somehow leaked and then the phones started ringing with stupid deals and Tmac heard this and got more frustrated and then management sat him down and said we don't want to trade you. But we would like you to try to give Adelman's offense a bit more of a chance. TMac after watching it work so well without him agrees and management is excited about the new look and how much better it will be with a focused TMac. TMac is happy again end of discussion.

So I don't expect any trades unless TMac flat out sucks (very unlikely) or the team flat out sucks with him back (doubtful). This trade is just wishful thinking on NY's part. They suck the fans hate them and management is desperate. Just leaking this makes the Knicks look like they are trying. Also the only 2 players I would be interested in are Crawford and Lee.

    Dear Tracy,
Don't worry about being traded to the Knicks. They will give you your 44 million, release you and then you can come back to the rockets for next to nothing.

    Sincerely,
    Stevie Francis

if Marbury came to the Rockets I wouldn't feel so bad having in on my fantasy team. :p

but yeah.. they would have to give up a lot more than that.

...I doubt this trade rumour is true, mainly because I can come up with a more plausible trade scenario, and I'm some pretend GM slaving away at non-basketball stuff. :(

    Tracy McGrady/Mike James+Scott Padgett TE

    for

    Rasho Nesterovic/Jason Kapono/Andrea Bargnani/Jose Calderon/Jamario Moon

Raptors are hella happy with thier new Big Three (Mac/Bosh/TJ Ford once he comes back)

    Rockets get deep. Quick.

    Rockets
PG: Jose Calderon/Rafer Alston/Arron Brooks/Steve Francis (can be cut)
    SG: Jason Kapono/Bonzi Wells/Luther Head
SF: Shane Battier/Jamario Moon/Steve Novak/Kirk Snyder (can be cut)
PF: Andrea Bargnani/Luis Scola/Chuck Hayes/Carl Landry (can be cut)
    C: Yao Ming/Rasho Nesterovic/Dikembe Mutumbo

    Threes galore! Whoo.

...Point is, if the Rockets are trading McGrady for Marbury, they sure as hell aren't trying hard enough if I can think of something better.

Trade with Knicks? no way, no matter who in the knicks will be involved.

I would love to have a T-Mac trade this year though it is unlikely in this season. Reasons? we haven't won a single playoff series in the last a few years. T-Mac has a injury history that hurts the team deeply. Besides, his overpaid salary of 20MM per year in his 3-year contract extension is too heavy a load for the team to improve. Some one might argue that he didn't have good supporting cast. The fact is that he played more than 10 years in different NBA teams and under different coaches and he hasn't passed a single first round playoff. There should be no more excuse for that. T-Mac might be a gifted player. He is also a proved loser. I simply don't see how we will rely on him to be an elite to win a title.

No offense, but did you really miss the fifty million times it's been reiterated that trade exceptions can't be combined with players in a trade?

I will puke if Marbury becomes a Rocket.

The only plus is that I can suddenly afford the kicks of a rockets star since Hakeem...

if this trade goes down, it will be the worst in rockets history imo. i'll be very sad.

especially marbury's contract does not end this year. i don't care about david lee, though he's a fine player. but we've got scola.

to the slightest possibility i'd consider, is mcgrady + james for marbury and crawford. even that is a very bad move.

do not trade with new york. they're not a trading partner for any team right now.

My only opinion is a VERY strong opinion about the fraility of McGrady's body.

For the person posting that the Knicks don't have a 1st round pick next summer which can be part of the trade...the rules state you can not make a trade depriving you of a 1st round pick in two successive forthcoming drafts. If the Knicks have a first round 2009 pick (nbadraft.net says they do), the Knicks can damned sure trade the 2008 1st rounder.

Regarding Marbury's ETO, his father just passed away in MSG and Marbury just might have had enough. The Rockets could specifiy Marbury taking the ETO as part of the trade.

I'd be damned tempted to take Marbury, David Lee, the Knicks' 1st rounder in 2008 and throw Marbury's expiring salary at some 2008 FA's...Damned tempted. IIRC, the FA list (some resticted) includes Nocioni, Deng, Gordon, Pietrus, Barnes, Antawn Jamison, Josh Childress, and Josh Smith.

Yeah... IF Marbury agreed on the ETO, I'd be cool with that trade. But that's a big "if."

daryl morey, i know you are better than this. if his past approach to offseason deals is any indication, he's too smart to go after a cancer like starbury.

also those who claim "TMAC IS UNTRADEABLE" are explicitly wrong. he has deflated trade value, YES. he is damaged goods, YES. there is still a market for one of the top 5 wingmen in the league. yao is immovable. tracy is difficult to move successfully. there's a huge difference.

ill say this: if tmac IS moved, we better get a Josh Howard, Josh Smith type wingman with strength, tenacity and at least acute scoring to make up for what we lose from tmac. this whole squad has been designed around the theory that the ball will be in tracy's hands, and he will facilitate the offense. this is why we look stagnant without him (thankfully not in the last for games).

trading tmac for ANOTHER pg is a deathwish. i can't think of a play i'd rather have less than marbury. well maybe i could if i tried, but im not going to because i'm trying to make a point: Tmac IS most definitely being "shopped" and I pray that if he is moved, though i seriously doubt it, that we get a caron butler/josh howard/ron artest in return. you have to fill the holes you make.
