I sure hope your "buddy" is right, i say watever it take to get a team centered around Yao/T-Mac get it done!
I cant understant why in the world Tracy would pick the Suns over Houston. I just dont. I am sure he watched the playoffs, and he got the 37 point performance in Orlando in person from Yao. Thats also the game that Mcgrady himself went for like 20 points in the 3rd quarter. Now imagine them both playing together And I remember him saying great things about Yao after the game. He also said how fun in would be playing with a big man. Players like Mcgrady, Iverson, Pierce know what its like w/o a big man, even in the East. And they are ready to win I think. I know he saw Francis kick ass in the playoffs, especially off the pick and roll....and Mcgrady has to be salivating! A 7'6 dude givinig him a solid pick WOW! And Houston in really not that far away actually. We have most of the other positions in place. The Suns would have to trade away JJ and Marion....Amare and Mcgrady would the highlights every day of the week, but first round and out every time........(Nash will not be allowed to go there with Cuban still in Dallas).......We possibly can get Mcgrady for Steve Francis and TE. We dont need to send both Steve and Cat. Orlando should know that Steve will be the same player if not better than Baron Davis in the East. Thats not bad returns for a player who is demanding a trade and is in the last year of his contract.....Not bad at all! If we can keep Yao and Cat, and add Mcgrady.......and we even have the other pieces actually. JJ has another 2 years of production left. Mo and Cato would be more than servicable with that lineup. Nachbar is kinda coming along. And if we get Brent Barry with the MLE........Sick lineup..........We would be maybe one decent bench shot blocker away from perfection If he wants highlights, he will choose the Suns.....If McGrady really does want to win, which is what he has been saying all year, then Houston makes most sense. Learn from the Lakers and Kobe, Tracy....It could be your time now! especially w/ Shaq fading.....
Is there any way to keep Francis and get McGrady. I just keep thinking that Orlando is going to get desperate and cave.
Orlando doesn't have to trade with us. Even if they get desperate, they will get a better offer from someone else no matter what a Rockets offer that doesn't include Francis is.
does anybody really think that McGrady could go for 25 and Yao go for 30+ in the same game in a JVG "offense?" would McGrady really want to play in this "system?" why?
If played correcty, the "system" works. I really hope we can keep Mobley though.. his defensive intensity is somthing else. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. go rockets! e
i find it quite unusual that mcgreedy would consider houston...didn't he leave toronto to become "da man"? if a trade did happen who would be the franchise player in houston? the last two years he averaged 23+ shots a games...and we complain about francis taking too many shots..this pass year stevie took only 14 per game...i can hear it now.."damn mc greedy pass yao the ball!"
Dawson's mettle will be tested now and for the remainder of this off-season...this will be a defining offseason for the ROX. If we don't land McGrady, we will look back at this summer as the one where we let it slip. A player of McGrady's caliber comes along only a few times a generation (IMO, only Kobe and Lebron have more talent), and when one actually becomes available, you've got to do any and everything you can to land him. Trade the entire team short of Yao and leverage a couple future 1st rnd picks, take on one of their bad contracts, whatever it takes...a team of Yao, McGrady, and a bunch of serviceable, hard nosed roles players hand selected by JVG will make the Rox an elite team for years to come.
Can we please put to rest the argument that he wouldn't want to play with Yao because he left Toronto to be "the man"? He went to Orlando with the understanding that he'de have Grant Hill and Tim Duncan with him. You can hardly call that wanting to be the main guy.
If Orlando insiste on bundeling Tmac and Hill together for a trade, I will think really hard. Hill is a handicaped who is getting paid max! No matter how bad Cato's and MoT's contract are, they are not handicaped!
We know the rockets have an adavantage since we can take Grant Hill if orlando takes either Cato or MoT, both very servicable bigmen who would do well in the east. THe question we have to ask is would Les be willing to pay Hill if he never plays a single game?
He named the teams he'll play for, so any team that trades for him will ensure that he'll re-sign before acquiring him.
McGrady wouldn't be bringing the ball up, thus dominating it in a way where the resto fthe team cannot get involved. Additionally, I for one have never said Francis shoots too much. I have called for he and Yao to shoot more. And if Francis made as much out of his shots as McGrady does, I'd want him to shoot even more. The problem with Steve isn't the shots, it's the way he dominates the ball to the exclusion of the team, and that he doesn't fulfill the point role of increasing opportunities for others.
Yep, exactly. When Hakeem dominated the ball and took many shots, we still played a team game. Just because T-Mac will take lots of shots doesn't mean he won't make the right passes and make his teammates better.
When McGrady becomes available, I doubt these will be the only offers the Magic have on the table. To me, the best offer for Orlando on this list is Francis. He's the only one on that list that can somewhat carry a team, unless Kobe wants to go to Orlando, then its a no-brainer that Orlando takes Kobe. I wouldn't see why Kobe wouldn't want to go there, he gets his chance to be the man, but I don't know how much Hill's contract bars them from any other signings. I think the Suns are a better option for McGrady, if Nash decides he wants to go there, because I don't see much else we can get if we trade max contract for max contract. McGrady+Amare+Nash>McGrady+Yao.
