Well, that's not so bad. He looks a bit older in his face. Hmmmm, might work.

"IF" McDyess opts out (which I have my doubts about), no doubt he would be someone the Rockets would look at. Obviously the Rockets want to get a more long term PF, but that might not be available at this time. So I would have no problem rolling with McDyess for the short term at PF.

regardless of whoever else is out there, blowing the full MLE on a 33 y/o pf with a history of injury problems is not a good investment.

mcdyess is going to have to give us a hometown discount if he plans on coming here.

    Insider reads:

    Will McDyess Opt For Houston?
Jun 28 - Antonio McDyess hasn't officially picked up his option for the $6.3 million he will make next season -- but you have to believe he will. The Pistons have already indicated that they would sit down and try to work out an extension with McDyess, starting at that $6.3 million.
Now, here's something to think about. McDyess lives in Houston. Houston needs frontcourt help. Houston would probably love to offer McDyess their mid-level exception, if he opted out. If McDyess thinks the Pistons will lose his buddy Chauncey Billups to free agency, the Houston option might become more attractive. The thing is, though, time is running out. McDyess has to make his decision by the close of business Friday. -- Detroit News

The Pistons still have no definitive news from forward Antonio McDyess or his agent, Andy Miller. But the team expects word to come sometime before the draft that the former All-Star will pick up his option. -- Detroit Free Press

Depends. If we don't get anyone to start at the PF then getting McDyess for a few yrs. at the MLE isn't a bad move, but yeah if we got a starter at the PF then giving the MLE to a backup would be a bad move. Alot of people have notions of splitting the MLE on two players, but what you end up with there is two cheap pieces who can't play. I'd be more inclined to spend it ona solid contributor like McDyess then split it on someone, even if that player were Stevie Francis and his ole defense.

No, but a clip of that would be funny, I'd bet.

BTW, "Akeem" would have knocked his ass out!

Get Diogu through the trade, and then sign McDyess. Let Dice start, and have Diogu and Hayes back him up. I think that is a pretty sold 4 group.

Dice picked up his option to stay in Detroit and is working on an extension with the team.
