whoa, now Chipotle are 2 completely different places. Yes McDo owns them, but none of my hatred for McDo is going towards the best carnita burritos anybody can buy :D

What is McDonald?? My wife keeps bugging me about going to China to eat at the KFCs there! Are the KFCs that good in China?

I actually worked at McDonald during college, the drive through booth sucks (cold and wet).

I heard recently that McD's is actually spinning off Chipotle. I'm not a fan of either place, though.

In truth, I think this is actually a halfway decent idea. The biggest problem I see with it is technical problems. What do they do if there's some sort of communications problem to the main office? Also, what about people who change their order at the window?

Can you be put on hold when you're in the drive through? :)

in terms of food, I agree completely, but the other night they pissed me off so bad I wanted to create a new drive thru window.

I went through the drive thru.

Ordered a pancake breakfast meal (#12), and a single sausage and egg taquito.

    Your Total is 5.36

    Pull up to the window
    Your total is 3.92
    ????
Wait a second. I thought the total was 5 something?
    No. 3.92
For a pancake meal (#12) and a taquito with cheese?
No. YOU ordered a #9. It don't come with PANCAKES.
    Uh, sorry no I didn't. I ordered a # 12, and a single taquito.

About if you just cancel that order and give me what I want?

I highly recommend watching the DVD "Supersized".

I don't go as often anymore, but Whataburger is the ONLY fast food burger place I go.

I'll get a number 1 with tea and a side of chicken strips and gravy mmmmmmmm yummy

Micky D's are lame. They at least used to have the fries going for them, but now they suck ass too.

    My sentiments as well.

If this is cheaper for McD's, and allows them to drop the prices on their menus, will the average consumer still complain?

(PS- Chipotle doesn't hold a candle to Freebird's.)

i don't' know if anyone is actually complaining. just having a hard time understanding how setting up separate call center with all the costs associated is cheaper than the current option...or a better customer service.

Having worked at Big Mac before, I can tell you many times you just sit there with nothing to do. So one call center girl could take care of maybe 4 stores at one time during non peak hours.

That would save some money when you consider Big Mac have over ten thousand stores.

that helps. there's a big capital outlay up front to create a call center to handle traffic from the umpteen million McDonald's. you're paying for new phone/communication equipment. you're paying for the person answering the phone. and i assume you're paying for enough people answering the phone that if you hit full capacity, you could still serve your customer at the drive up menu without having him wait wondering if "anyone's there."

you still have to employ the drive-through, cashier, though, right? or do you eliminate that now and just have the same person who serves the food take the money, make change, etc? the mcdonald's closest to me has 2 windows...one for the cashier...one for where i pick up the food.

so when you're working the drive-thru window, do you have no other responsibilities?

Pretty much just sit there and answer the customers. Sometimes you just freeze your butt off during the cold winter days.

I hate the first drive through window.

You cann't get rid of the cashier though

then you're not eliminating a position, are you? the same person who takes my money is the one who's taking my order right now. that doesn't eliminate a position at the store. so i'm still wondering how this saves anyone any money. i'm sure there are guys at McDonald's smarter than me who have figured this out...but i'm not getting it.

No, most McDonald have two people one in front one back. So they are getting rid of one position.

What if an Indian who recieves the call has a conflict of interest with the promotion of slaughtering cows....

I haven't gone to McDonalds for years. What usually gets me back is those Filet'o'Fish Friday promotions in between Lent and Easter. My sister had some coupons for free items off of the heathly menu. Being the starving college student, I started using them, but when I ran out I had the slight craving to go to McDonalds for anything, even a Big Mac.

Insidious they are. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me BACK IN.

ok..i misunderstood you, then. but you still have to have someone take the money through the drive-thru. you're saying that would be the same person who is only serving me my food right now...right??
