(February 19, 2004) -- McDonald’s today announced the nation's top high school seniors – both boys and girls – selected to participate in the 27th annual McDonald’s All American High School Boys Basketball Game and third annual McDonald’s All American High School Girls Basketball Game. Forty-eight players from across the country will display their skills before a national audience when the 2004 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Girls and Boys Games tip off at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively. The Boys Game will be broadcast live on ESPN starting at 9 p.m. (EST) and ESPN2 will air the Girls Game on Thursday, April 1 at 5 p.m. (EST). "For the 2,500 young athletes, just being nominated to the McDonald’s All American teams is a very special honor,” said the former UCLA Coach and college basketball legend John Wooden, chairman, McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Game. “For the 48 final team members, being selected to play in this Game is really a dream come true. The prestige of the McDonald’s All American game, including the player history and charitable works of the game, cannot be matched.” The 2004 McDonald’s All Americans join a list of alumni that reads like a "Who's Who" of basketball greats including LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan; as well as current NCAA stars Chris Duhon (Duke), Shannon Brown (Michigan State), Sean May (UNC) and women’s NCAA stars Shanna Zolman (Tennessee), Ann Strother (UConn), and Courtney LaVere (Notre Dame).
