BS back. Many people die under torture instead of turn on their country or friends. I am not knocking him for it, because it is a difficult thing for any human being to endure. BUT don't tell me I should elect your President of the country because of it when you gave in! Don't try to play the war hero when you gave in! Don't act like you love the country more than everyone else when you gave up our secrets in war due to torture!
I don't think being a POW qualifies anyone to be the President. I think it's weak when McCain and his campaign use it as an excuse for anything no matter how unrelated it is. Folks that are good at torture can torture without the victim dying. Dying isn't an option. The fact that McCain gave in under torture doesn't make him less of a hero.
My understanding is that torture, if inflicted properly, will never kill anyone. And barring possibly a very rare few individuals, people will always crack eventually - it's just a matter of when. When people are dying, it means that the torturer either is inexperienced or isn't truly concerned with getting information as they are making a point. These would explain why street gangsters don't fare so well.
