Fine post, Kim. I wouldn't be at all surprised. The man is baffling to me. I used to have high regard for McCain, but as time goes on, it's clear he isn't the man I thought he was. As much as I enjoy politics, there is one thing that always dismays me. Running for the Presidency often brings out the worst in those doing the running. Almost like they have to run away from themselves to get elected. I hope that doesn't happpen to Barack Obama. Impeach Bush.
Fine. I just hope he doesn't concoct some nonsensical drivel that insults everyone's intelligence. You are correct that appearances can be deceiving, but it sure looks like he caved for the sake of political convenience. halfbreed, your question sums it up for me. Imagine if he LOSES the election anyway.
Yeah, the electorate's biggest issue is whether we can but Khalid Sheikh Muhammed on a table and pour water over his face. You liberals are a joke
Why are you against the troops? The U.S. army field manual bans waterboarding. McCain said that the generals told him they are able to get all the information they need by following the Army field manual. The Army doesn't want to allow waterboarding. This is a case where you clearly don't support the troops. On a different subject did you hear about yet ANOTHER WHITE person shooting up a classroom and killing multiple people?
Answer me this: Do you or do you not believe our nation's biggest issue is whether we can put Khalid Sheikh Muhammed on a table and pour water over his face? Yes or No?
Yes - and there are many more moments to follow. McCain is a choker, plain and simple. The closer he gets to the Presidency - the less likely he is to be the "maverick" - which is his greatest strength and the more likely he is to stick to the party line. We saw it with waterboarding, we've seen it with him caving in and kowtowing to bigoted right wing religious nuts like Bob Jones University - we'll see it happen again. Nobody will even have to bring up the Keating 5. He will blow it on his own.
no, its what church obama attends, or that he claims to be black but grew up in kansas with a white mother even though he goes to a black church. or whatever other mind numbing dribble you've posted as criticism of him. Its all more important that torture.
I don't think he will. Politically, McCain is facing an uphill battle in the general election. For him to succeed, he needs Hillary to get the nomination. If she does, he needs to get the right wing base to come out to support him. This, along with his '100 years' rhetoric and recent talk against Obama, begins to accomplish that. He has enough of a reputation as a maverick and independent to split the independents, so it's the talk shows/evangelicals that he needs going full blast. If he faces Obama, he's not going to win since independents will vote Dem anyways. Other interesting things will happen in this case, but that's outside the realm of this thread. As far as his personal convictions, I think he rationalized that since he knew the bill was DOA with Bush in office and knew that how he voted had no bearing on what would actually become law.
