Because "support" means chants and not improved benefits for our veterans. In all honesty, there are two sure fire ways to get a lot of applause. One is to praise whatever town you happen to be in. The other is to praise the brave men and women serving in the military. Not that the speaker doesn't believe what they're saying, but it's an easy way to get cheap applause. Both sides do it.
So how will Hillary go after her? Accuse her of not being qualified? Ok, queue up those McCain TV spots with Hillary saying Obama isn't qualified. What else can she say? She's under investigation for corruption. Uh, hello Bill Clinton. How about that she's only the Governor of a state with a small population. Uh, hello Bill Clinton again. And she obviously can't go after her as a woman. Or as a mother. Or as a wife. Where exactly can Hillary attack her?

Scared? No. Unimpressed? Yes. That kind of perkiness may be great at the snow machine races, but as a VP choice - kind of disapointing.
If McCain was going to make a risky move for a VP, I would have much preferred seeing him pick Tom Ridge or even Joe LIEberman. Not a female version of Dan Quayle. Sorry, but I was willing to be pleased, not reminded of Danny Boy. He was the first thing that popped into my head while watching her speech, and she looked to be equally over her head. Who knows? Maybe she'll prove me wrong.
For all the talk about how Palin will pick up female votes, what about what this pick will do for independent male voters? If I'm a middle or working class moderate independent male voter, what the heck does does Palin do for me besides push me towards Obama? I think expecting women to push McCain over the hump is pretty dangerous. The fact that the GOP feels that they NEED to pander to women is pretty disheartening if you're a GOP fan.
The GOP just gave her a reason. Hillary isn't going to let Palin ride her coat tails and steal her moment in history.
Yeah, just because a bunch of people inhabiting a certain political segment make broad statements that the election was already a foregone conclusion, and that therefore this pick was a necessary gamble, well, take it with a grain of salt. As you said, the polls are very tight, much tighter than one would expect after such a 'triumphant' convention (yawn), and there are plenty of people on the other side of the aisle who would confidently tell you that McCain will win, even before he made his pick. What this pick really does is two things at once - it immediately perks up the 'core conservative base', which is not particularly enamored of McCain, as he is virtually indistinguishable from a liberal in many ways, and second, it immediately draws the gaze and interest of all of those single-issue women voters who were going to vote for hillary for only one reason - her internal plumbing. What is going to be really interesting to watch will be the way the pr campaign starts up full-force now, especially showing images of contrast, particularly between Palin and empty husks like pelosi. I still don't like McCain, but at least I am interested in the next two months again.

Like I said, queue up the Hillary questioning Obama's experience clips(and throw in Biden for good measure).
1) Arkansas still has 4 times the population of Alaska. 2) Bill was also Governor for 10 years. Significantly more that a year and a half.
Of course I did. She spent more time talking about herself and her accomplishments than Obama. A win for Obama puts her on the back burner. A win for McCain would likely have her be the choice in 2012.
Were there lots of women who supported Hillary who were anti abortion and anti gay rights? I know that when I meet women who are conservative, they tend to be the ones who hate Hillary more than even men, so I'm curious what the demographic of women who would vote for McCain just for Palin is since it sounds like it's the same women who would have voted McCain anyway?
"'Bros before hoes.' Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They have got your back after your ho rips yours heart out for no good reason. And you are nothing but great to your ho, and you told her that she was the only ho for you, and that she was better than all the other hoes in the world... and then... and then suddenly she's not yo' ho' no mo'."
