I disagree. He seemed to have the same attitude and sense of humor at the dinner where both he and Obama did comedy bits. I'm no McCain supporter by a long shot so take this as you will. I think if he had been the upbeat politician that people can relate to, as I think he is/was in those examples, instead of the cranky old man that just seems bitter and combative, he would have done MUCH better. I think independent voters identify with that kind of candidate and are tired of the mud slinging. I really believe that he had a chance to win this election and would have if he had been more likable, stuck to the issues instead of constantly campaigning against Obama, and picked anyone other than Palin. Hell, I think he would have \ could have won regardless of the Palin pick if he had been more likable.
I think McCain taking shots at himself was ok, but the shots aimed at Obama and Palin I felt were in poor taste, especially with an election yet to happen. It's one thing for McCain AND Palin to come on together and make fun strictly of themselves. It's another for him to do a bit standing alongside a fake Palin, while landing jabs not only on himself, but Obama as well. Would have probably been funnier if all the candidates were on at the same time, or if they were all fake. And I like David Cook, but his new single is pretty generic. I don't think we'll see his full potential until he breaks away from the Idol stranglehold like Kelly Clarkson did (whose the only former winner I can tolerate).
WOW! I am very impressed with his comedic performance. He was very smooth and confident. He should have been on earlier. It definitely improves his image as a mad old man that's only interested in terrorist mudsling. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, should have done more intense one on one interviews to dispel the notion that she is unqualified and dumb. Her coming on SNL, just made her look even dumber.

The QVC idea is pretty brilliant, as was the surprise appearance of Cindy McCain. The Tiny Fey bit is wearing thin. (Yeah, am I the last person to think that?) I think he would have been more funny on his own in that skit. I didn't mind the plate joke; I kind of loved it, but they should have had one plate decorated since they did one town hall event.
McCain was awesome, I wish he would have run his campaign more on his record, and stayed with the straight talk express. I will bet he regrets all the comprimises he had to make....because if he was himself I think this election would have been a toss up. DD
Those were great. I loved the McCain Fine Gold and the Rocky IV strategy. Although if he's going to fight Putin he should study some Judo. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bWo7WXL5nZg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bWo7WXL5nZg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
