Well, your state has some pretty crappy standards. The standardized testing pass grade here is 70 just like it is for regular classes. According to a story in the Chronicle recently, 80 percent of students passed the TAAS in Houston this year, the highest mark ever. As for the cutoff for the SAT or ACT, I'm not sure what you mean. Many colleges are getting away from testing as a measuring stick for acceptance into schools anyway. Nearly half of all private schools and a solid third of public schools consider testing among the least important measure of a students entrance into college according to college guidance counseling reports. Colleges are now more concerned with the overall educational ability of a student. I did very poorly in the math portion of the SAT, but nearly perfect in English. Colleges are looking at that as a measure of one's ability in English rather than one's lack of ability in math for example. ------------------ The internet is about the free exchange and sale of other people's ideas. - Futurama
