I always appreciate your posts thumbs, and your insight. But you have to understand: you're a moderate, you voted for Kerry, he lost. If you're repping the unwashed, there are apparently more of the washed out there, as hard as I find it to believe Bush voters in the deep Red are especially concerned with hygiene.
Getting back (or should I say forward) to the 2008 issue, so far I am intrigued by New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson. He is articulate, half-Hispanic, moderate and genial. He has character, but he hasn't elaborated any vision yet. BTW, Batman, do I have your best email address? I want to get your thoughts on a project which has nothing to do with this thread.
He's also got a hell of a resume. A Latino swing state governor with White House and international experience. He's someone to watch. Email me at the other one and I'll give you my main email.
I am a huge Richardson supporter. I don't know if he could be mean enough to win the election, but if he had mean people around him perhaps he could.
FB: According to people who know him best in NM, he's mean as a snake. I talked to a TV reporter at length when I was at the Clark rally in ABQ and he said Richardson was vicious. rimrocker backed up the assertion.
He thinks he's banned, but he emailed mods and never heard back so he's not sure. I miss him around here too.
I do hope ya'll are talking tough-minded and focused rather than mean. "Mean" and "mean-spirited" this country can do without, IMO.
I mean tough mostly, but I understand he doesn't take kindly to being crossed either. No different really than Bush or Clinton. Point is, he's got a friendly public face so FB was worried he might be soft. He isn't. That's all.
Good. My concerns are assuaged. Now I am searching for a Republican possibility with credentials and charisma equal to or greater than Richardson's. How wondrous would it be to have a choice where the American people wouldn't be the loser regardless of the result? I know. I am an idealist and dreamer dressed as a cynical moderate.
That's good to know. He does seem mild mannered. I've only seen his policy, and watched him interviewed about issues and policy positions. I've never actually seen him campaign, or anything. When Clinton was in the whitehouse he never came across as mean then either. But I am glad to know that he can be when he needs to be. Being able to be mean while appearing genial and amiable might be the ticket to bring enough moderates to his side for votes.
