Strategically, this is all good for Dems. The Repub Party is in dire need of reform. When guys like Dobson can dictate the VP, you know you're in trouble. When McCain loses, they'll be able to say they lost because a true conservative was not running and nominate a wacko in 2012. After they get crushed there, that may be enough of an impetus to weed out all the people currently in charge. If not, it will ossify and take a generational leader to remake the party.

While it is good for Dems, it's not particularly good for the country. I like having two strong, competent parties. Looks like the Dems are on the way back to that ideal. I hope the Repubs make it soon.

This article seems to expand on this topic:

    http://www.blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/09/02/bushies-come-to-palin-s-rescue.aspx

This is what is scary to me. Forget about the absolute trash that is out there and focus on the real issues with this pick. Is a woman who needs this much "tutoring" the most qualified to be Vice President under John McCain? Absolutely not.

Not the preggo story... the wicked rumor that Palin's son was really her daughter's...

    dailykos

As reported on NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN... even the tabloid shows jumped on it today.

Sorry, but sometimes T_J actually can be correct. They may not be "Obama's" personal attack blogs... but they are "left blogs."

So... again, believe what you want to, but the order of the story goes -The rumor started by dailykos... the internet buzz... the Palin's make an announcement that the daughter is preggo to stop the rumors of the baby being the daughter's...

Left started the attack based on photos showing a "baby bump."

Next on the young and the restless....

if i remember correctly, fox news was right in on this. hell, they are the ONLY main cable news website that is putting on its front page regarding the news of the boyfriend coming to the convention. if the right does not want anymore attention paid to this pregnancy issue, why bring the father over here that can possibly trigger more questions?

again, i can't defend some crazy leftist who is way out of the left and just wants to destroy the other party. there's nothing you can do about that. if the dem had a controversy, someone on the far right would try to dig up as much dirt as possible too. it's politics. both parties have the extremes.

i mean, wasn't it the right who called michelle obama "unpatriotic" and "baby mama" over ONE single comment that made her have to answer it in her speech at the convention? wasn't it the right the first party to attack the opponent's family? an attack that caused obama to speak out about family is off limits? i mean, if you're gonna start the fight, then don't be mad if the left joins the fight. and it's been a dirty fight. both camps have been responsible.

the hypocrisy boggles my mind. i bet you if michelle obama gets caught doing something small like drinking at a bar, you seriously don't think the republicans would make it an issue? and i wouldn't be mad at them.

But here is the problem. The Dems aren't any good at it and generally attain the opposite reaction and results that they wanted by doing it. 2000, 2002, 2004 fighting with these kinda tactics didn't gain you one thing. It just motivated your opposition especially in 2004 to titanic proportions. 2006 it appeared you learned from your mistakes and you reclaimed congress. This presidential election should be a sure thing but here is your party (I'm excluding Obama and his campaign in this as they want no part of it) once again embracing the tactics that have proved to be nothing but a detriment to you. With this election just 3 months away here you all are once again trying you best to aggravate a monster republican base that has been basically dormant the last 4 years. Why even attempt to wake it up at all and lets face it your party is trying its best to do so right now.

You made the impossible happen in 04 are you going to do it again in 08. Hopefully not, but it isn't looking good right now.

Again, what did they do in 2004 that was any worse than what the right wing did to Kerry?

how does it not look good? obama broke the 50% mark in a few polls yesterday. that's basically the barrier mark.

in the past 2 elections, the bush campaign did a great job of making the election solely on gore and kerry, and kerry was so pathetic not knowing how to fight back when the right DESTROYED him and his manhood basically.

this election was def. going well for the republicans when all the attention was on obama b/c experience and his celebrity are a great argument. but now all the attention is on mccain and palin and now experience IS NOT a great argument.

if the attention is gonna be on the mccain camp the rest of the way, the dems are gonna win it.

look i'm sure both sides will admit politics is a dirty game. i don't know why people on talk shows or even on this board get mad when things like this (bristol's pregnancy) are being tossed around. both sides want to win and if they see an advantage, they'll pounce, rightfully or not. that's part of the game. you might not agree with it, but if you work for one of the parties directly, you'd do the same thing.

however, i'm glad obama has been completely quiet regarding palin. his camp has been stronger and more disciplined than i thought. and he's going on bill o'reilly the day mccain makes his speech? now that's what i call sticking to policy politics.
