he's not ready. thats the point...i think his ideas have changed. he's not blind anymore. last week nothing was wrong with the economy, and today i think he just realized that we have a crisis.
He has to go from no regulations for the last 20+ years to all of the sudden Mr. Regulations. Obama should not let him off the hook..... DD
Pure political gimmickry by McSame. He got scared that he would be blown out of the water by Obama Friday night.
Well McCain is still on my list even though I'm likely to vote for Obama. It's just that the McCain of today is totally different that the McCain of the past. It's like he was taken by aliens and given a different brain. When I say aliens I'm referring to his campaign..
So... DaDakot calls for this yesterday, we all mocked him... both sides did. Today, McCain does exactly what was suggested... FIRST, and now somehow he's "scared of debate" on his strong suit? Nope. Barack should take Rudy's advice and just ask McCain what to do from here out. He's been following his lead all along anyhow. Barack's not ready to lead... but he's a good follower. NOT even PRESENT ZERO CRED, ZERO WISDOM, ZERO EXPERIENCE
This is odd.. may end up being a very very bad move by McCain. He may have been sincere but this gives too much firepower for the opponent to make him look weak.
I called for both of them to attend to their senatorial duties, NOT to cut and run from the debate IROC it, you know there is a difference, I know you are smarter than Palin. Obama is right....American people need to hear from the President, and NOW....and he is also right in that anyone that is elected as the President should be able to do more than one thing at a time. McCain is DOWN.....Body blow, body blow.....RIGHT HOOK !!!! DD
I don't see this as a desperate move. it doesn't make me any more likely to vote for him, but I do respect the suggestion. I hate Obama saying a president has to multi-task; he isn't the president. He and McCain were elected to be Senators and now there is a major bill being discussed. If these two men are such great leaders and so good at working across party lines, then they should do their jobs and help resolve this crisis.
No, I don't think so. The night before a big debate, he and Obama will be cramming for the test. A flub in a debate could really hurt, so they will be sure to be as prepared as possible. I don't think it is reasonable to really throw all your effort into legislating a fix to a major financial crisis and leave the fortunes of your campaign for the presidency to a just-wing-it approach. Or vice-versa. And the opinions of these two men are very important because one of them will preside over the execution of whatever solution and you want to be sure you have the president on board. People are talking about it as if this was just another piece of legislation; it's big. As for the debate, is it really as important as you make out? Sure, they need to do it to maximize our information in voting, but a postponement is not a ridiculous request given the circumstances. You still don't get to vote until November (for the most part). Taking time out 10 days ago would have been premature. It's a complicated issue that takes time to understand. It took a while for all the facts to come out, Paulson's plan and all that. Now, things are coming to a head so now is the time to suspend the campaign and work out a solution. I think McCain has tried to play it to maximize his voter appeal. He could have tried working something out with Obama instead of inviting him through the media. He is running for president after all, so I kinda expect that behavior. That's politics. If you had to be a white knight to garner votes for president, we'd have been without a leader for quite a long time now.
Just posted on CCN News Wire: Obama: Friday debate should go on Posted: 04:51 PM ET CLEARWATER, Florida (CNN) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he wants Friday’s scheduled presidential debate to go ahead, despite John McCain’s call for a suspension of campaigning to deal with the faltering economy. “It’s my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess,” Obama said. He added, “I think that it is going to be part of the president’s job to deal with more than one thing at once.”
well you missed the point, the point is voters are deciding on who is the most presidential so they need to show who can handle the job. he isn't suggesting he's the president. he's suggesting that he can do the job.
he's not the president now tho, and has another job, at least theoretically, since his real job has always been just running for office.
I get the point he's making, and I'm not saying necessarily that his position on this is wrong, I just don't agree with his reasoning. They are Senators. That's their job right now. Neither one of them is able to do their Senatorial duty when they are campaigning. I get that Obama is still willing to fly in to Washington if they need him to come and vote present, but if he is really this great leader, who is great at uniting both parties, I'd like him to help get a resolution worked up.
