Maybe he knew how to set himself up and not be accountable and used Tilmans jovial vibe and poor media handling to make him look like the devil while he really has rockets on his good will... LET’S SEE.

Daryl Morey tweeted what he tweeted making his stakeholders loose **** TON OF MONEY. Was he handed resignation? No.

What did Daryl do for this act of loyalty? Negotiated new contract behind teams back with rival while being under contract. Matter of fact even after resigning he wasnt upfront about it - he played role of advisory while we and his new franchise were both looking at completing coaching staff... thats shady AS ****.

he says he loves Harden? Watch him make effort to try to convince him tk join forces.

what did he accomplish in his over 14 years or something? He made rockets competetive to his credit. But that’s it. Hes not some GM Jesus, hes slick snake who can act. We never even got to finals under him. He took team with freaking Yao Ming and prime Tmac and run them to the ground. Then OKC gave him Harden on a Silver player (every gm makes this move even Cuban said it that it was OKC approaching Rockets and he cant get over it because he would give up half of a team then). What he accomplish? Run him to the ****ing ground once again.

Maybe we need to reconsider all our thoughts and give Tilman time? Silas and his staff sugestions look at least solid.

    Lol

if tilman quickly fired Daryl then the shitstorm domestically would have been ever worse than china’s (temporary wrath) .

Morey is a gambler for sure , but he’s a very good one . He did his best with constraints from ownership imo .

I agree that tilman needs time . But actions speak louder than words , his whole schpeal about going into the tax ... but then never did despite having prime years of harden / CP3 .. and then WB .

Covid hit him very hard . I think we are in for one more year of “going” for it . Then after that we will look to transition to future value .

Houston by all means should still be a top tier nba city . But if tilman starts to acquire a poor reputation among players then watch out .

Daryl is solid, very solid. Very good and he is giving constant level of performance. But in his time as GM Pat Riley rebuilded two times and got finals level team three times.... you can argue its the city and i would agree for the lebron run but right now? We all thought we got better team, but he was smarter and thats what makes GREAT gm. Same for Boston while Daryl was here they made big three and now they are on the verge of complementing another top team. Morey isnt any better than solid NBA GM like the ones on the other good western teams

Kind of bush league to give us the spend time with the family speech and then get another job this quick. We didn't win it all with him and he left us with an awkward roster. Time to move on.

If Morey was being "shady" and violating his contractual duties to the franchise then Tilman would be filing a grievance or a lawsuit right now to get some money or draft picks out of this.

    He won't.

Which means that not being up front about the reasons for this separation was as much him as Morey. Tilman either fired him thinking he could publicly soft-pedal it or gave him a release thinking nobody in the league wanted to deal with the China headache.

That's a lot of money he was giving up, right? I guess it shouldn't be surprising that he wouldn't jump at an opportunity to join another ball club in a different situation. I doesn't necessarily mean that the family thing was totally bogus. In his mind it could have been:

Continuing working with the Rockets < spend time with family, forgo salary < Go to a different situation and get paid.

I hear you points but Riley has a benefit of player/coach experience to recruit these players. He uses his name. It's not even a fair comparison. I don't know any other Gm that could rebuild without losing for multiple seasons and then drafting a sure fire star. What you are saying sounds like something Richard Jefferson said on ESPN yesterday. That among those people in the 76'ers office there is one person who has a championship. Implying Morey's name doesn't carry any weight. Just a total lack of class by a former role player.

The other advantage is that miami has always shown the willingness to spend money while Riley has been in charge. They paid the luxury tax more often than not.

    Yes, give Tilman time.
For now, Morey who was supposed to bring all the data-driven stuff to the NBA, never reached the Finals. He implemented the three-point shooting bonanza and the small-ball, and still no championships. I say let’s get a “normal” team structure (with a center), maybe another tall player (twin tower structure, which made Houston a championship team).

Thats what I think too. Its amazing he wanted all threes and never got three point specialists.

His scheme exclude itself because he wants low salary high efficency players And shoot a lot of threes, but at the same time 3pt specialists are very overpaid. Youd say he can draft them.... but at the same time he mortaged future to win now.

What was Morey supposed to say?

"This Bozo thinks you can win chips without paying the tax, he treated the coach poorly and expected me to win a championship anyway. I literally can't take another day of his meddling and other organizations have been inquiring about my services for years. GoOd LuCk PaTrIcK."

Those Harden to Philly rumors from a couple months back make a lot more sense now.

So you think Hakeem Olajuwon type players just grow on trees?

Players win championships and systems maximize players.

    "Normal" is such sheep mentality.

Dream's Rockets were not normal. Dream was best in a 4 out system - surrounded by 3ball shooters, that was the final evolution of Rudy's system.

Rudy revolutionized the stretch 4 which went on to win many championships for many different teams. Horry by himself was on 7 championship teams as a critical stretch 4.

Morey is smart, but not that ****ing smart. Hindsight what-ifs are fun, but there's no way he calculated every move. Or did he?
