But you should know that your rationales for why he isn't much good is pretty poorly thought out ... if you're willing to use common sense, and listen to that deep voice inside of you and let it override your emotions.
Ok here we go Brad Miller...Oh I get it. Poor decisions are coaches fault, and not that of GM. Got it. Didn't realize Adelman made signings. David Anderson was a stiff before and after we let him go. How many countless threads were there about Morey's inability to just go out and find a decent big after Mutombo? He refused to address it even considering Yao's tremendous injury bug. Since we like to play the Well this move landed this person landed us this pick in Favor of Morey. Lets do the same in reverse. Battier cost us Rudy Gay, Battier ended up being Hasheem Thabeet and Flynn. So in essense we didn't take Gay to get Battier to get Hasheem Thabeet for an extra year since Battier would of fallen off the books sooner. Brilliant. Jordan Hill/Martin/McGrady. Martin has done what exactly for the Rockets? What are his feelings on the Org now? Jordan Hill was wasted space. Id rather of us just let McGrady of fallen off the books and cap relief then what we ended up with. We could of been in rebuild mode a lot sooner. Oh I forgot, we traded for the rights to trade draft positions...lol, how did that work out? So McGrady and his large expiring ended up being a Mav (2011 NBA champs who just reloaded) draft pick, and sulking Martin. Awesome! I touch on Camby in an earlier post but lets recap. We get a bunch of players we cut and 2 second rounders. When we have zero current centers on our team. Dally wasn't a terrible move, but we moved him. Not bad a move except if Asik falls through we have ZERO centers on our team. And no not really. If we paid 25 million to a Center who averaged lets say 8 ppg in 12 minutes but played no D, I would be just as up in arms.
Tell me your not so high expectations? Compare it to the other 25 GMs out there not in NY/LA/Miami? Actually NY GMs suck anyway. San Antonio / OKC better, yes.
Which resulted in how many playoff appearances and rings? This is how low the standard for the Rockets has come to. Pathetic. Morey is a god, of course, he has made the Rockets into a trader. Where are the glory years?
rebounding his own miss http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/19/s...cond-shot-with-jeremy-lin.html?pagewanted=all
LOL just had to throw this out here.. Royce White?? Some have said his play with the ball in his hands looks a little like Magic at times.... And White did try to pull off the long up court bounce pass 2 or 3 times in summer league.... None of them were successful. And the announcers noted it each time. But still the comments were made about White and his ball handling and not pulling off that bounce pass. Never heard Lin being compared to Magic. zzpot
At what price and how soon can you get the man here... Not Morey but you personally!!.. As fast as the NBA and the sport is growing you still see players that stick for years. Marcus Camby wants to play till he is 40... J Kid is like 38 and yes got drunk and hit a tree.. My point is, yes some players last a long time in the NBA and are still productive late in there careers. But at what point did we THE HOUSTON ROCKETS have a chance to add or acquirer a Perkins???? Tell us all because we all want to know!! zzpot
Good lord, can you imagine this thread if we don't land either Howard or Bynum? Personally I really don't see anything that great about Morey. I haven't seen anything remotely close to success since 2009 and that was just a tease. He makes mistakes just like any other GM in the business.
Actually Morey IS a genius...a genius at creating lowered expectations. He started out respectably by making keen low to mid-level roster moves and hiring quality coaches. We applauded those moves with the belief that the long awaited big move (splash) was forthcoming. Six years later and we're still waiting. Now, after realizing that splash might not be on the horizon, some here have taken to celebrating even the measliest of Morey's moves. His middling successes are lauded as masterstrokes and his failures are quickly dismissed using at least one of these three ubiquitous rationales: 1) Other GMs are scared of DM 2) Les is holding Morey back or the weakest of all 3) "at least he's trying!" The bottom line is during Morey's tenure the Rockets have 3 playoff appearances in 6 years (with all of 1 playoff series wins). That's a pretty mediocre record for what has become a pretty mediocre team. So I'm not sure what makes some people think Morey is anything more than a pretty mediocre GM.
I luv the part where it's NOT MY MONEY.......and Les proves once again that he's basketball's to the wall set on trying to bring us a winner. A great owner who hired a damn smart GM and budding top 50 players of all time NBA coach. There's a lot to like.
