No need. Your base assumptions were: 1) Arabs = only read Arabic = Muslims and 2) Potugese = only read Portugese At most, you meant that there are as many Portugese people who speak other languages as there are Arabs or Muslims. In any case, the base assumption is false, and brings Dennis Miller's thought (which you agree with) to its knees. That's the whole point, but if you'd like to start a thread, feel free.
He brought it up, I responded....meh... LOL - not true at all, not my assumptions, but way to make stuff up. Did I say I agreed with it? Nope, I said..fun little factoid..... So danged sensitive Mathloom.......such a sensitive lad. Have you seen the Southpark episode, where you offended? I posted the YouTube clip above, are you able to look at it, or is it banned in Turkey? DD
DD, with the clichéd bbs move of posting something offensive, then acting surprised when people take offense to it and accusing them of overreacting. Gee, I've never seen that tactic before.......
hahahaha I'm not in Turkey and it's not banned in Turkey or here! Keep shifting DaDakota the people in this thread are not too thick to notice how you conveniently throw words like "sensitive, offended, banned, Turkey" into your post to describe the Midlle Easterner I hear they're looking for people like you at Fox News. Have a think about it.
Well, the factoid is not offensive, but I can see where Miller saying that Muslim's are kept in the dark would be...... Oh well. And Mathloom, I don't know where you are, you have mentioned things are banned in your country, and I recalled you said you were in Turkey.... My bad..... As for the Middle East, it needs work, lots of it, to open up freedom of choice for all the people over there. Yes, that is a general statement, but some countries over there are appalling in their treatment of women and human rights. Fox news...LOL - I hate that channel.....I am a Cartoon Network guy.... DD
I dont know if you are a genius or unaware, but lol I was just going to say: Books translated into Portugese would be for the Portugese and Brazilians. Not that Dadakota would know that. What do they speak in Brazil Dadakota?? Ask Dennis Miller and let us know.
Ah, and who was it that was calling someone a racist.....lol....... Yes, I do know Portugese is the language of Brazil, I have been there, have you? Yes, because the lack of an educated populace is one of the biggest reasons for a lot of the intolerance.......I found it interesting..... DD
For the record, the conclusion is offensive because it's reverse-engineered on extremely poor assumptions and facts. It indicates to me that the conclusion was sought-after, and everything else didn't matter. I'm not offended if someone says that certain groups of Arabs OR Muslims are not a very literate bunch. It's the truth, and I've said it many times before. It's just that when it comes in the context of "it's easy for illiterate/uneducated peopel to be fooled into terrorism" it's completely rejected. But when it's about your ability to say "F U" to Muslims, it seems our opinions are tied down by the socio-economic conditions. So to summarize, I'm not offended by the mere criticism of Arabs or Muslims. I'm offended because of the audactiy to put together some weak sauce to come to a pre-determined poor opinion of Arabs/Muslims and clearly showing that the difference between Arab and Muslim is non-existant. It's racist and it's stupid. But you didn't say it, so... Edit: btw, I'm in Dubai, moved here. Most likely I was in Iran at the time? Have family in Turkey-Dubai-Iran, but live in Dubai now.
I don't have poor opinions about Arabs, I think all people are equal. I have poor opinions about Islam, and it's contradictory and confrontational message. For the record, I have poor opinions about all religion..... And, I believe a lack of an educated populace, combined with a predominatly Islamic government, and topped off with a large socio-economic gap, is a recipe for disaster. DD
I missed this, I agree that the economic situations contribute more than anything to people being fooled into terrorism. There is nothing better to root out terrorism than giving people something to live for...or a reason to live. DD
1) Agreed. 2) I don't blame you, your knowledge of Islam is entirely based on opinions, articles, tv shows, youtube, and as I recall a venomous/hateful/biased website full of falsified information (that time when I couldn't see the website, I just looked it up). 3) I have poor opinion about all organized religions, including modern day Islam. Humans are not capable of doing the "organizing" and it leads to lots of corruption IMO. 4) Absolutely agree. I'm confused though.. If you believe that's the case, how do you reconcile that with the fact that you want to pick on the uneducated populace who are victims of miseducation? Wouldn't it make more sense to pick on those who are keeping them uneducated? Pick on those who are killing free speech, and ensuring it remains a foreign concept to a large group of Arab and Muslim countries? You can throw all the miseducated in jail. Do you think less people will be miseducated? No, these people are poppin extremist thoughts out like candy. It's a factory. You know what fuels that factory? Displays of hatred, segregation, 'drawing lines', etc. The more you do that, the more the factory's productivity goes up. But you still want to attack all the products, rather than pull the plug on the factory. If you're going to throw the extremists in jail, you better catch them all, because they each have a thousand brothers and sisters.
