bosh won't get a full 20.7M max, it's not possible to give him that without completely demolishing our team outside of D12/Harden. The "max" deal we will give him will be starting at ~$19M [whatever we would have been able to offer Melo.] Bosh's agent is probably the one releasing the info about it being a full max deal to try to increase the market for his player, and I'm pretty sure bosh would take a $1.5m/yr paycut from his full max to keep parsons, jones, beverley, etc on the team...

I had a feeling you were thinking that but guys like PhatP are basing the idea that Bosh is in the bag. Not only that, Bima stated earlier people are just assuming we can match that type of offer. It doesn't work that way. This isn't the MLB.

True - Hayward was the feature guy in Utah. Parsons for all his strengths has only been the feature guy a handful of times in his career. He's a role player who has done well in the role given but I don't know if he is necessarily the type of guy you make a big splash with as a team with cap space and give him 14mil+. The guys we need to watch out for are the pretenders looking to be contenders of which the Mavs are a serious threat....

We didn't expect this with all the talk within the last week?

I don't have a problem with Parsons trying to get paid. The man should do what he feels he needs to do. There's nothing wrong with that.

Deng would be a reasonable replacement...maybe even Ariza for the right price. What will piss me off is if we lose Parsons and end up paying only 2 mil less for the next tier of quality SFs

I'm not saying that we are for sure getting bosh, but I assumed that was the scenario you were discussing when you mentioned being "hard capped" in one of your previous posts. The only way being hard capped by matching parsons is by signing bosh or another significant FA before matching his deal.

Rockets absolutely need to sign Parsons for the max (if that is his market value) ... then trade his ass for Kevin Love and Corey Brewer.

Parsons has been awesome for this team, production wise and value, but he just priced himself off this team.

    Howard
    Love
    Brewer
    Harden
    Beverley

Going to miss Parsons, but this lineup puts a smile on my face.

I wouldn't have cared with the previous CBA, but with this new CBA being over the tax is definitely not worth if it eliminates the ability to even get minimum level players. As much faith as I have in Morey landing good young talent on the cheap, I don't expect him to have this much fortune all the time. It would definitely be an all in move matching the max on Parsons while grabbing Bosh or Melo as well, but would we even be able to keep solid role players around them the next three years. Obviously, I am speaking from a point of view that the tax apron stays around 81M the next couple of years.

So we could have had Chandler for 990k and we went for 14 million. Brilliant.

If he gets max money, this entire thing was foolish. He would have stayed with the Rockets for max even after another year of ONLY 900K.

Parsons isn't worth the max somebody is about to be very disappointed. He deserves to get paid well but not that we'll I expect him to get all that money then play worse on the court.

Parsons was quoted as saying he is not adverse to a sign & trade, depending on the money. The MAX should be adequate compensation, no?

In another year after a deep playoff run I'm inclined to say Parsons would make even more then than what he's going to make now.

You'd think, but he could have other teams wanting his services and willing to pay the "market price" now that it's been set. So he may have choices....he wont choose Minny over Dallas if they are offering the same. I hope Bosh signs and then we can risk that, but if he doesn't (bosh) then I hope Minny is the only team willing to do it and it leads us to a sign and trade. Wishing thinking for both of us lol

Yes, his agent, who is his agent, and who else is this agent's most important client? Jalen Rose who has some experience with how agents work pointed this out 6 months ago. His agent is watching this unfold to see how the final figure will end up, he's not looking to sign an offer sheet to screw a certain other person.
