Between Hardens Ego and no glue guy on and off the court the Rox will fall faster than Pompeii if they lose Parsons. A Tibetan Monk has foretold the future of the Parsonless Rox..

 

Parsons ego is out of control and his game has very slowly deteriorated due to his focus elsewhere (modeling, photo shoots, etc.). A couple years ago, he was laser focused on basketball. He even attended/participated in the summer league, when he certainly did not have to. He used to hit clutch shots & Kobe Bryant even talked about his great defense!!! Now he hardly plays defense and brags about how he should be on the Olympic Team and how much better he is than Batum. Honestly, at this point, he may not be worth 14 million a year.

 

I could see the Mavs maxing him out to due Cuban's hate for Morey. Morey has such a distaste for overpaying and not having flexible moving pieces to assemble a contender with that I could see him actually passing on Parsons, seeing as he has stated he didn't feel we were quite contenders last season.

This offseason is falling apart now that we aren't on Melo's short list. We will only get Bosh if LBJ decides to become a Cav, which feels like a long shot, we didn't pick up Parson's option and it looks like Cuban could make a big overpay as a last ditch effort to compete in Dirk's very small window all the while sticking it to his least favorite GM.

 

Parson's max will be the same as Gordon Hayward, which would be 4 yr 62 million, starting at approx 14.5 million with 4.5% raises each year or 7.5% raises for Houston.

 

At this rate, Parsons is easily dumpable. Factor in the expanding cap and luxury tax line, we would easily get another lottery protected pick (in our favor) if we need to go that route. Perhaps in 2016

The Mavericks are trying to do just that to the Houston Rockets, and it might qualify as a pretty decent chunk of payback.

The Mavericks are taking dead aim at restricted free-agent small forward Chandler Parsons, whose stock has risen to the point that he takes a back seat to no free agents after LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.

If the Mavericks sign Parsons to an offer sheet that starts in the $10 million to $12 million range, then the Rockets will have three days to match it.

The problem is if the Rockets are able to sign Chris Bosh to a maximum contract, as they have offered the Miami Heat big man, that would give them three players making in excess of $14 million per season. Add Parson’s $12 million, and the Rockets would quickly be creeping into the luxury tax by the time they filled out their team.

This could be called the Dwight Howard rule.

It was last summer at this time when the Mavericks lost out on Howard while the Rockets secured his services during free agency. It was in the aftermath of Howard’s decision that, according to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Houston general manager Daryl Morey sent a text message to Cuban asking if Dirk Nowitzki might be available in a trade.

It was taken by Cuban as a taunt at the Mavericks’ failed attempt to get Howard.

Not long after the Howard acquisition died down, the Mavericks hired Gersson Rosas, Morey’s right-hand man, to join Cuban and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson in the Mavericks’ front office.

That union lasted less than three months, and Rosas returned to the Rockets.

This doesn’t take into account some of the on-court drama that has occurred between the teams, including the Mavericks’ 40-point Game 7 win in the 2005 playoffs.

We didn't let Parsons become a RFA to let him walk. We could have easily paid him sub 1.2 million this season and let him walk next season. The guy is going nowhere unless it's via trade. I don't understand why people are even talking about him going to the Mavericks. Cuban can go himself because Pretty Boy Parsons will not be in Dallas.

Trust me, if Parsons pulls a d*ck move and signs an offer sheet before we snag a big fish, there is NO REASON he needs to come back. The fans would turn on him and the FO would resent him.

 

Can someone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY you would want NO D, LIMITED O Parsons starting on this TEAM NEXT TO JAMES HARDEN FOR MORE THAN $10 MILLION A YEAR? I CANNOT understand why fans who see all the games and the playoffs don't get what a liability CP is... I would be ecstatic if he takes all that money and signs with Dallas. Helps morey focus on what this team needs as he himself doesn't exactly know (throws iPads at every fa every summer)

 

If it's around 12 mil for Parsons, let Dallas have him. It's a freaking double edged blade, isn't it. It's just going to hurt their cap space as much as ours.

 

We'll pay Parsons. At some point in the next year or so we might have to trade him for lesser salary, but no way we let Cuban get him.

So just to be clear on this situation. Let's say we clear enough cap room, sign Bosh and have only $1 of cap room left after accounting for CP25's cap hold as a RFA. Even with that $1 in cap space we can match any max offer, and still be under the cap because we have his bird rights. Is this correct?

On the other hand, lets say we are unable to get any free agents and just dump Asik, our cap space even if sizeable at 8M or so will get wiped out with matching Parsons but again will be under the cap, just without a FA to show for it

 

if dallas is offering him the max he can go to dallas and screw up their cap room

 

The glue happy Parson didn't stop Pompeii from falling in the playoffs against the freaking Blazers, did he? The Tibetan Monk has spoken French.

 

We can exceed the cap to re-sign Parsons but he would definitely eat into our cap room if we don't sign a FA. This is why some fans are upset we even made him a RFA this summer; he could have been getting paid peanuts this year and we wouldn't have to worry about losing him.

 

Right but then we wouldn't be able to go over the cap next year to re-sign him. If we are able to get a top tier FA this year then we can resign Parsons and have a Big 4 for years to come
