If that's true. A player that failed the test is doing charity work in Africa. A player they drafted... Maybe they need to review that test?
Were these the same projections that regarded Bryce Drew and Mirsad Turkcan as competent NBA players? Sorry, but the juxtaposition of Artest's mental problems with his on-court abilities has led to wayyy too much hyperbole in regards to the latter. He was the 16th pick in the draft and that wasn't even a shock. Ron Artest didn't project as a high lottery pick not because of his mental issues but because he was never that highly regarded until the past few years. And no, he's not good enough to be a "franchise cornerstone." I heard someone on ESPN the other day proclaim him one of the best 5 players in the game matter-of-factly. This is getting ridiculous and creating quite the straw man. Like I said in the other thread, I would trade Battier twice for Artest, but it would be with the motivation of acquiring him to be a complementary peice, not a franchise savior. It's almost as if the media/others have to embellish this guy's talents just to get the point across that he's crazy and not worth the risk despite said talents. We get it. As far as this report, my initial prediction a few months ago was Artest landing in Dallas, but certainly not for Josh Howard. That's too much to give up. I had Cuban pillaging the Kings with some package centered around Brandon Bass. Artest is better than Josh Howard, but Josh Howard has infinitely more trade value.
If they Mavs traded howard, they would have to find a new supply source for their flying high abilities.
