Why can't everything be ok? Kobe wanting him back is already a good sign. KK would be thrilled to return to LA. I don't think Odom copes well with change and therefore the best thing would be to return to LA. They just gotta kiss his butt some to patch things up.

Lamar should have never stepped foot on the NBA basketball court for this season.

He admitted as much with stuff he was going through in the off-season. Then, he shows up completely out-of-shape with the lockout (like he doesn't have to do anything in the off-season to keep conditioned like a pro would) and he must have set a record for player trying to get back in game shape because it continued for two to three months into this season where he admitted he still wasn't in good enough shape. Not sure how that happens?

But, we know if he would have remained a Laker, he would have been fine I'm sure. But, instead, he was just an excuse-maker all season long. The funniest part was him trying to make excuses to the fans after being boo-ed heavily in a home game a few weeks back. Fans don't want to hear that. Just man up and say you deserve to be boo-ed.

That's a dumb move on Mitch though. Lakers' bench would be much better with Odom. I think Odom was on chopping block for financial reason, this was just an excuse.

He'll eventually end up back with the Heat or Clips. I don't think he'll return to the Lakers after that whole debacle.

I agree. He'd be great fit for the Clips.

When they hooked up, I remember someone mentioned in a thread that the marriage stipulated that Odom pays a lot of money each month on various stuff for Chloe. Stuff that may not be a problem for someone making $8mil/yr, but enough to drain Odom's savings quite quickly if he's not making a ton of money.

Why couldn't the Mavs suspend him for the rest of the season because of his lack of professionalism? Just saying.

They were hoping the TE and Dallas pick, plus Bynum (or Gasol) and their own pick, would be enough to get Dwight Howard. Odom having a sulky temper tantrum and telling the FO he wanted out was just icing on the cake.

Who knows how much better he was going to be in LA. He didn't get that far out of shape on the flight to Dallas.

Career. Over. Any team that signs him again is wasting their time.

He's acting like he was the only player in history to be traded. Other players have adapted after being traded why can't he. Grow up and be professional.

His days as a starter are over but he can contribute for LAL, LAC, NYK or MIA next year for 15-20 mins a game as backup PF/C. He wasn't motivated to play for Dallas. There's no incentive. None. He'll look back this summer on how he wasted 1 yr of his life away on the bball court and his mind will be right next year. He'll be fine

Baloney. I know from personal experience about losing close ones and having to move forward. he is a prima donna first order for his act. Maybe he should have dedicated this year to the ones who have passed on and focused his game. Instead he folded like a tent, screwed the Mavs, ( :) ) and looks like a loser who rode Kobe's shirt tails.

I find it funny how no one here or Mavs fans in general are laying any blame with Donnie Nelson and Cuban.
All the signs pointed to Odom's weak mindedness as soon as word broke that the Lakers were trying to trade him and Gasol. For all of Gasol's mental fragility, it became obvious that Odom was on a higher level of that and the Lakers had to trade him. Especially when Odom thought he'd call their bluff and tell them to trade him(most likely expecting them to apologize for putting him on the trade block).
Donnie and Cuban have a GREAT relationship with Jeff Schwartz, Odom's agent. (And J. Kidd, and Deron's agent). Schwartz got the trade to the Mavs setup and all in motion, despite even indicating in an episode of Khloe and Lamar that aired two weeks ago, that Lamar's mental fragility and state was kind of a problem.
For sure Odom should have been a professional and just got on with HIS JOB of playing pro Basketball wherever, but some accountability (for Mavs fans mainly) should fall on Donnie and Cuban for taking a chance on a guy who really has never lived up to all his promise, despite some decent seasons w/the Lakers.

It might be difficult but he has showed he is such a loser. If I were in his shoes I would do my best to make the Mavs repeat. I feel dissapointed because he is such a loser to me. What a bad ending for both sides, especially for Cuban. He probably had thought Odom would do anything that is possible to keep the Mavs alive in the RACE. What a fail.... especially on Odom's part....

But wait, maybe it was his wife's decision....

Hopefully he learns a lesson and comes back ready to play next season. Otherwise his NBA career maybe over.

Phil, Kobe, Fisher are the only few guys that can keep his head in the game. Maybe Riley and Popovich can do it too. But I don't see anyone from Clipper or Knicks commanding that kind of respect.
