I'm not sure a package of Damp and and Stack could reel you in a superstar.. Superstar Trade equation = Large expiring + plus young talent + Draft picks 60% of the time it works everytime.
I don't think the MLE is too much for a big like Gortat, but I don't understand them extending that offer to Kidd.
http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/ -------------------------------------------------- We're now hearing that the Mavericks have indeed made an offer to Marcin Gortat and the only hangup will be if the Magic decides to match the offer. Barring that, the next center of the Mavericks appears headed this way. This would represent the first domino in the Mavericks' summer makeover and probably would be a good move in helping sway Jason Kidd's return. --Eddie Sefko
Oh well. I hope Plan B does not involve another restricted free agent, so the circling vultures don't come in and swoop away our guy, after we do all of the work.
Marvin Williams would be a good pick up. He is young 23 I think and a 6'-9" sf, which would give the team some height.
they made an offer to Gortat much like the Rockets did it doesnt say they've reach an agreement. if the Mavs overpay thats fine at this point the next year is in rebuild mode anyways so while Gortat would have been nice to get he isnt a necessity for the next year. 2010 season though a legit backup C is needed
The Mavericks have made a contract offer to Marcin Gortat and will now wait to see if the Magic will match it. No details on money or length, but if it is a substantial offer, the Magic may have a tough time matching it, even though they have said they intend on doing so with any offer he receives. Stay tuned. The Rockets 'email your love for Gortat' campaign seemed to work, but wasn't enough to pursuade the big man to sign with Houston. Source: Dallas Morning News
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Doesn't this just mean they are in the same boat as the Rockets? Nowhere does it say Gortat agreed...
Yeah, that sounds good. He jumped out at me, too, from reading that Hollinger 'under valued' free [restricted] agents post somewhere on here.
Freaking Chuck Hayes is going to be our starting Center this year. Thats kind of funny...you have to laugh, or youll cry.
That would be great if this just turned out to be Dallassites blowing smoke up their own...there is still the issue of Magic saying they will match, but, like others, I think it's a bluff.
