So a continuation of this discussion with the same Mavs and Spurs fan respectively, now a third of the way through the season. I hope the Rockets give us all a gift with a W tomorrow against OKC!

Merry Christmas to my Clutchfans family!

They will be lucky to get a player even close to as good as james harden with that pick

Players like Harden don't come around but maybe once a decade anyway.
Look at the numbers James has been able to achieve. Not many players can
provide that sort of performance. Some of his achievements have NEVER been done before.
Look at Dirk, Kobe, LeBron, etc. . . . You don't find them in every draft class.
You could have #1 pick 7 years in a row and still may not find a James Harden caliber player
Some GOOD players for sure, but not on his level

Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony Towns, BOTH consecutive #1's and BOTH
currently play for the T-Wolves. Good players, yes. But not yet at Harden/Lebron/Kobe level.

Besides, you have to have a GM who knows what to do with that first pick.
Here are some #1's that never panned out:
    Andrea Barngani - 2006
    Kwame Brown - 2001
    Greg Oden - 2007
    Anthony Bennett - 2013

We may not have #1 pick
but we have our secret weapon

Rockets fans are a little numb to how good James Harden is. He is averaging 33/9/5/2 with an EFG% of 56%.

In 60 years of the NBA only 10 players have had a season averaging as much as James is this season. In the last 30 years only Jordan, Bryant and Iverson averaged more than James is this season. Bryant averaged 35 points with an EFG% of only 49%. Iverson averaged 33 points one year with an EFG% of 46%. Jordan had an EFG% in the mid 50’s.

You can count on one hand the number of players in NBA history that have had a season like James is having.

I'm happy to fly under the radar, not many teams expected to win end up meeting expectations. Honestly though, what our team and fans are expecting are results in the playoffs. We need to consistently play organized team defense so that we don't need to go on crazy offensive runs at the end of games to win them. Plus come on, it's Mav's fans they have every right to be angry with what Cuban attempted to do post the Championship run. I treat them like Cowboy's fans, they have a right to exist but I don't really acknowledge their presence :D

All I’m gonna say is by the early looks of it the rockets need multiple things to go right to make the finals.

Rockets have had injuries as well as the warriors.

The warriors look completely fine surviving and winning with injuries. The rockets however don’t.

Not only do the rockets need to be completely healthy but also have to be great on both ends to get by, whereas the warriors can literally win with just one of the three things needed.

Post next time the warriors lose their 3 best defenders. It hasn’t happened since Curry was drafted.
